In order for some of you to understand others in this Public Group why we feel and post what we say is simply because we were in the CoG when it was a holiness church, something that we believed in. In fact, here is what the Church of God that I and many others joined said,
“Total Abstinence from all liquor or strong drinks. Proverbs 20:1; 23:29-32; Isaiah 28:7; I Corinthians 5:11,; 6:10; Galatians 5:21.”
“Against the use of tobacco in any form, opium, morphine, etc. Isaiah 55:2; I Corinthians 10:31, 32; II Corinthians 7:1; Ephesians 5:3-8; James 1:21.”
“A New Testament interpretation of the use of meats and drinks in accordance with the following scriptures: Romans 14:2, 3, 17; I Corinthians 8:8; I Timothy 4:1-5.”
“Christian day of worship. Romans 14:5, 6; Colossians 2:16, 17; Matthew 28:1; Acts 20:7; I Corinthians 16:2.”
“That our members dress according to the teachings of the New Testament. I John 2:15, 16; I Timothy 2:9; I Peter 3:1-6.”
“That our members adhere to the scriptural admonition that our women have long hair and our men have short hair as stated in I Corinthians 11:14, 15.”
“Against members wearing jewelry for ornament of decoration, such as finger rings (this does not apply to wedding bands), braclets, earrings, lockets, etc. I Timothy 2:9; I Peter 3:3,”
“Against members attending movies, dances and other ungodly amusements; further, that extreme caution be in viewing and in the selectivity of television programs. I John 2:15, 16; Romans 13:14; I Thessalonians 5:22; Philippians 4:8; II Corinthians 6:14-7:1.”
“Against members going in swimming with opposite sex other than the immediate family. I John 2:15, 16; I Timothy 2:9; I Corinthians 6:19, 20; Romans 6:13; II Peter 1:4; Galatians 5:19.”
* It does not matter if Liberals within the CoG took a vote and voted it all out in 1986 so now there is currently a generation in the CoG that know nothing of the CoG and what it preached and stood for during their first 100 years of existence. Their vote does not disqualify what God declares in His Holy Bible. I WAS THERE WHEN IT HAPPENED, AND I GUESS I OUGHT TO KNOW.
