In this case, it wasn’t a long formal prayer, but rather a last breathing prayer of desperation. Final words of a fallen veteran (1 of the 22 that kill themselves every single day). But we (veterans) know that many other cry this same prayer from their hearts right before taking their last breath. To some, you’ll just skim over these as just words because you have that “luxury”…..to others, you might actually taste just a fraction of his pain. “Oh my God, I can’t do this anymore. Take care of my family and forgive me for what I’m about to do.” Is this fallen veteran in hell? Thoughts?

I put suicide and what happens to aborted babies comfortably under the banner of I’m glad God gets to sort that out because I could never.
Things like this weigh heavy on the heart understandably. Spend time praying with God about it. He will impress you with an answer. -
Sorry to say it and lay it out bluntly, he is.
He didnt meet the standard and requirements of salvation even to his last words. Compared to what the man that Jesus was crucified with when He was crucified found in Luke 23:39-43.
The man you said so didnt acknowledged God as his Lord. Didnt acknowledge he is sinful. Didnt acknowledge Jesus as his Savior. Thats the requirement. -
Was he a Christian before he commited suicide. If so he’s in heaven. If not he’s in hell. It’s that simple

God understands the heart & would understand the despair someone could feel. I think in that case He would forgive.

Either God’s grace is big enough to catch someone who can’t take the pain anymore, or it isn’t. Only God knows each person’s heart and the true motive behind such a desperate act. This is way above my pay grade.

Coming from the heart that has stated those words but by the grace of God, did not follow through with them, my personal opinion has changed from he went to hell to Jesus died for past, present and future sins. I will say it again, a true believer will truly be saved if he or she repents with a true heart and accepts Jesus Christ as their savior.
I have always had Bi Polar depression. I have dealt with so much suicide ideations, its scary. But I placed all of that behind me, with placing complete trust and putting all my faith in God. I am now made free, anxiety free, depression free. I am reborn and have been made a new creature.
I know my salvation. I work it out with God. Only He knows my heart and what is in it. So when I die, only He and I know where I’m going.

I tend to view suicide as a form of murder, not at the hands of the individual but at the hands of the Devil, who robs the individual of their last peace and then leaves them to die.

People who fought in war see and experience things the rest of us can not even imagine!
Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, because of Christ alone, not by works! Suicide is a ‘work,’ a bad one, for sure, but nevertheless still a work! It does not impact a person’s salvation!

Scripture says God doesn’t cast a broken reed away. He is merciful and understanding. God is a righteous and fair judge.
