Baptism is an outward sign of an inward change. Once you are saved you obey and be baptized.

Baptism is an act of obedience, but it is not required for salvation. The criminal on the cross is the perfect example. He repented and asked Jesus to remember him, and Jesus told the criminal he would be with him in paradise.

If you claim to be saved but do not want to be baptized, there is most likely a serious a problem somewhere, as a Christian should want to follow Christ’s example, but it is not a means of salvation, just as any other good work cannot save.
The normative experience for the Christian is not the necessary experience, but deviations should be addressed as soon as possible, especially something as serious as a rejection of one of our most ancient ordinances.

It’s a result of being saved but you can be saved and not baptized. Baptism is a public declaration of faith.

No !! Best example of that is the criminal crucified next to Jesus. He wasn’t baptized. He repented and believe that’s enough. First he said “we deserve to die receiving just punishment for our crimes” that is confessing the sin. Then he said “Jesus, when you come to your Kingdom, will you remember me ??” Notice he said “WHEN” not “IF” by that He showed faith that Jesus is the messiah and Jesus promised him paradise. No baptism no works. Repentance and Faith only

No…Baptism is a symbolic move that is a testimony to others that you have followed Christ. However, it is a cleansing ceremony that is symbolic of your sins being washed away from your body and soul.

It is an act of obedience, not an act to be saved. If that was the case, then you would be able to boast at how you saved yourself.

Just to let you know… He not only SAID it before and after the resurrection… But He also SHOWS us by doing it Himself.
He planned His ministries around large bodies of WATER so that people would put their entire bodies in that water and the go down underneath the water.

No. Those who believe in Jesus are saved, though those who are saved would obey the command to be baptized as an outward expression of their new heart that Christ gave to them. But Baptism will not replace the faith in Christ that everyone needs to have to be born again..

Okay, let’s ask this question to get at the issue: if a man accepts Christ, truly repents, and dies before he can be baptised, is his faith and repentence honored or is he doomed to hell?
If you say his faith and repentence are honored then baptism is not a salvation issue, it’s an obedience issue.
If you say he goes to hell, then you believe it to be a component of salvation without which the process remains incomplete.
Those are the only two views you can take as far as I can tell.

I challenge all those who said no on this post thread to produce a single prominent writer prior to 1700 who advocated that baptism is not necessary for salvation.

Spiritual yes, physical doesn’t gain you salvation. Physical baptism is more of a declaration of faith in Christ
