Is it not foolish to believe an account about Jesus written 600 years after he died, when there are records of Eye witnesses?

How was it determined that the account was written 600 years later?

Try within 70 years, and likely 30 ish

The Bible ends with Revelations.
Wrote in 90s AD.After that around 200 or something like that AD mysterious books popped up. Wrote by non-Christians called Gnostics.
There is a story of a priest getting caught writing a book that he was going to add to the Bible.
Around 1400s.The early Church Fathers quoted verses from the Bible. Thats 1 way we know 66 books. Also we know every writer bur maybe just 1 book.
Hebrews we dont know who wrote it.
But its doctrine lines up with the other 65 books. -
Fallacy of leading questions, the accounts were documented with the 1st century even with 100 years of the death and resurrection of Christ, which makes it THE MOST accurate ancient historical documentation in history.
-
Most people who believe in that have not done any research on their own and chose to believe what other people tell them..

Yes it would be foolish. Why would you do the 600 if you have a 30ish? Or if you have the “breaking news eyewitness accounts” as Lee Strobel put it into words.. it would be a great idea if you fact-check the 600 from 30 and the “breaking news eye witness accounts”.
-
If you’re talking about the Quran, then yes its foolish.
-
Where did you get “600 years” from??
-
You’re absolutely right
-
Guess we must disregard the first president of the united States and Christopher Columbus discovering America. But hey its ok to believe that bone some freak scientist found is 8p million years old.
-
Protestants believe 1500 years after he died though we have earlier testimony. It is not as accurate I’ll say

What eyewitnesses?
When Christian writings began to be collected it was noted that Paul was the first to say anything about Christianity.
As the Gospels were being collected there was a couple of things that were noted, some of the Gospels did not have names on them some of them did. There were hundreds of manuscripts collected and no two were alike.
There was the Gospel of Mary, Gospel of Thomas, Gospel of Judas, etc.; it was thought that there were about 30 different gospels which only 26 are in existence today.
The Gospels that were eventually accepted in the Canon had no names on them, so the church in the second or third century placed names on them. They called them; Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
But the copy’s of the manuscripts they had, had no names on them.
Keep in mind that of all the Greek manuscripts we do have of the Gospels, no two are alike.

Even atheistic New Testament scholars concede that Paul’s letters to the Corinthians was written around 55 AD. Yet Paul in his writings quotes and references, Dr. Luke, the writer of Luke, and Acts.
With that being said, you have accounts of Jesus from the same generation. Luke’s writings came directly from the original disciples of Jesus. By all accounts, the gospels can be no more than 15 years from Jesus death AT THE MAX.

The gospels may have been finished around 30, 40 and 50 years after Christ completed his works on the cross, but they were started much sooner.

Looks like a post from someone who hasn’t researched the topic or only read a pamphlet written by someone equally as clueless. Just google the subject.

Thank you oh

Where is this 600 coming from?
If your are talking about the Gospel then you have been way mislead into believing what is foolish.
Because it does not even make sense that Mattew and John (the known disciples of Jesus) will leave till the year 600 AD.
This two have been authoritatively confirmed to the the authors of the two Gospels bearing their name.
We must note that this confirmation was done by both Christian and none Christian theologians.
Even history and archeology does same.
So to thing that the Bible was written 600 years after Christ, is really foolishness (you are right I must say). -
I’m curious Chidi , are you Muslim?
-
Do you mean the Quran? Yes.
-
Lol, nobody posting understood the OP.
-
I believe in Jesus 2000 years after his death n resurrection.
Hallelujah -
600 years after? Where did you get that?
-

It is understood that those who walked with Messiah kept notes, records, and these were protected subsequent to Messiah’s ascension seeing that the disciples of Christ were being persecuted, martyred, but the Gospels, epistles, were written not long after Messiah’s ascension by eye-witnesses, men who had handled Jesus Christ and communed with Him. The Gospels and the epistles were then distributed among the house churches but things had to be done secretively. For sure, the Gospels were being circulated before the destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD by Titus and the 10th-Roman Legion. One of the last Books I know of was the Revelation of Jesus Christ given to the Apostle John in 90AD while John was exiled on the Island of Patmos.
You can be assured that the same God who created Time, the Universe, your genome, is perfectly capable of providing you with the exact words He desires you have so that you can know Him personally, love Him intimately, live with Him eternally. https://bible.org/seriespage/8-did-some-disciples-take-notes-during-jesus-ministry

what is paramount is his choice how and who he elected to do it, God has it all in control, i don’t see any place where God asked for our 2 cents and opinions, his life comes shining through in power and demonstration of his resurrection all is well. remember those who wrote it have the holy ghost.

Eyewitness accounts were written 30-50 years after Jesus died. They are called the Gospels in the Bible – Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
-
The quran lied when it said that Jesus was not crucified. Why should anyone believe it?
-
Unfortunately there are over a billion followers of Islam in the world.. so many are deceived ?
-
Yes. That’s why islam is false
-
They would have to be over 600yrs old to be eyewitnesses.
-
Yes 100% Yes… Only listen to the Holy Bible?
-
600 years?
-
Records of Eye Witnesses? You mean the evangelists or Gospel writers? Who among the four can really be considered as an eye witness?
-
And comparing accounts written before or after a person’s birth/life… Which do you think is more reasonable?
