I’ve not adjusted to the modern Church of God with all it’s fancy trimmings and rich people. I like the old Church and the common people and the down-home people.

I think we have forgotten that there are more poor people than rich people. There are more lower income middle class than higher income. So why are we trying to be upper class when the majority of the world is poor lower income. We cater to the rich and influential.

Our churches are not cluttered anymore with old song books and old Bibles. The landscape is manicured with shrubs and flowers all freshly mulched. The basketball goals have been removed no more abandoned church buses. All the parking spaces have been paved and curbed.

There is a clear message to the poor and impoverished: you are not welcome and you will not feel accepted here.

Not true. Strange philosophy. The building is not the church but there’s nothing wrong with a clean manicured building. U need to go on a missions trip. Some have no building but when they r able to build, they take great pride in it.

Charles; Your town has a high income level and Charlotte N C has an average household income of $ 51,034 which of course means that over half make more than that. In Southern Illinois, in general a very poor area but a few had oil wells and they could set on their front porch and take in more money than they had ever dreamed of before. So this rich and poor thing has many ramifications.

My point is that is that so many people have become well-to-do in our time that they must be ministered too as well. That a few have become so rich that they want to share their wealth with certain preachers and ministries. When you scratch the surface of the K. Copeland and J. Duplantis ministries you will find that they have been underwritten by a few rich people. This is not to say that I don’t have the same feeling for the poor that you do, it’s just that everybody can’t be poor.

The $ 801.00 minimum salary is seldom met although in today’s economy anything less is not enough to meet all the needs of a modern family. Here we are talking about food, shelter, transportation, insurance, dental work and yes a little savings for emergencies . On the other hand when you get up into the 1 & 2 per-centers they may well get more than the chart suggests. Part of this stems from members making well into the six figures and feeling that their pastor deserves at least as much as they do.

Most smaller churches do not have that much left after bills r paid. It’s just a recommendation set by cost of living.
