I thought I was saved at home but sometimes I wonder if most of us even know the exact time or day. God stirred my heart at a young age so maybe it was sooner.

I grew up and was baptized in a church, but didn’t become a Christian until later in life.
The person who started my search for biblical truths never said a word about Jesus or Christianity. It was his actions.

I was when I was 8,on a Friday service at school,Pastor Britton from Fairwinds Baptist Church and school,and my Mom and my friend Wayne got saved the following week and got baptized,I thank my Late Mother for sending me to a Christian School 🙂 I miss her so much,she was my best friend.

No one was ever saved by an alter call … They are saved by a triune Holy God … Each person of the Trinity playing His part in salvation … and the preaching of the gospel .
The alter call is an unBiblical practice made common by the heretic Charles Finney …leading many to false assurance .. Yes people have been saved through preaching of the word at such services where faithful preaching of the gospel was done despite the unbiblical practice … God can draw straight lines with a crooked stick anytime He wishes … But in the same respect Finny’s heretical teaching practices has also done great harm to the church . -
Not me , I was at home watching a TBN program where I decided to follow the instructions of the speaker . But this is significant, I had a religious back growing up as a child even though I was not a. Christian by own confession of faith in Jesus as an adult. That’s key.

This seems like a “gotcha” post to me.
It isn’t up to us to decide whether a person was saved based on their surroundings. Jesus said no man can come to Him unless the Father draws him.
So, sure, there are those who go through the motions at the altar as fire insurance or from peer pressure, but many do that while away from church, too. How can we presume to know their hearts?
Based on the wording, and the thread that has followed, this post really seems like it was made with a desire to start arguments.

All the people claiming that alter calls aren’t Biblical sound a lot like the Pharisees getting onto Jesus for healing on the Sabbath.

I was saved when God so convicted me that I HAD to talk with a minister at our church.
My sin troubled me greatly, and the reality of hell suddenly became abundantly clear.
I knew that if Jesus was real, I wanted to know Him, and experience His forgiveness.
What I am learning is that everyone’s “salvation experience” is unique and different.
Some people are drawn by the Holy Spirit during an altar call, some while listening to a message on the TV or radio, and even in a bar, when a Billy Graham Crusade was “coincidentally” on TV, while they were there.
Just as marriage proposals are totally unique and personal, so is the circumstances in which the Holy Spirit draws us to Christ. -

I was not , God came to me in my deepest pit and asked me if I had enough, and i said yes Lord get me outta here lol, so He did and I got baptized and lived for the Lord ever since ?

I was saved in the back seat of a Blazer in May 1980. My future husband repeated the gospel to me, and how I needed to repent of my sin. Then God spoke to me and told me he was the Saviour of the world, and to repent and follow him. I’ve been following Christ ever since. I got my MDiv, worked as a chaplain for a while. Always played on a worship team (I was a professional musician before I was saved!) and taught Sunday School, women’s Bible studied, and been a bold witness for my Lord and Saviour!
I was not saved at an altar call, but I do believe God can use any circumstance to save people. That includes during an altar call, because God will prepare any heart he wants, and save them.
BUT, I do not believe anyone who says a sinner’s prayer at an altar call is saved. I helped with the follow up program for Billy Graham at the Crusade in Vancouver in 1984. I had to phone 10 people invite them to a Bible study and encourage them to go to church, read their Bible. Not one person was interested in following up. I took it to my team leader, who was in charge of the 10 people who were contacting 100 people. She told me not one person in the group of 100 people followed up, and every group in the lower Mainland had almost no one followed up. So a week long crusade that thousands of people came to and thousands signed cards, and only a small number got saved.

I know of no one saved by an invitation. Titus 3:5. Eph. 2:8-9, Gal. 2:20. Take your decisional regeneration elsewhere! John 1:12-13, 5:21-24.6:36-46. 17:2-3.

Some people are saved during this unbiblical presentation, but it’s despite thereof and because of the hearing of God’s word coming under conviction of sin.

My boss at the time, shared the gospel with me in work, over a period of three months, I then asked Jesus into my life, I got down on my knees later that day in my roomsit. Praise the Lord.

I asked this question because so many churches are getting away from the altar call and I believe that that is a huge mistake.
I have immensely enjoyed all of the great testimonies. Personal Testimonies are a powerful Witness. Share it often with the unsaved you never know whose heart you’re going to touch.

Power does not lie in what man was doing or where he was. The power is the power of God – the same power He exerted when He raised Jesus from the grave.
God does not save in different ways. His way is always the same.
He and His actions are what make a testimony.
A true testimony never begins with “I was doing such-and-such” but rather, with “God did this.”
Proclaim Christ from the beginning and beyond – or refrain from speaking.
