Most of us growing up in the CoG had a special view of the world around us that was formed both by our spiritual experiences and by the natural world around us; mostly rural and country.
Our vision of the world was clear and simple, single-layered and orderly. Evil we knew existed, but friends and ordinary citizens of the community knew the truth and told it.
Now in one lifetime the issues of the world or no longer clear and simple, although we sometimes insist that they are. Now the world seems multi-layered and disorderly. In reality it has always been so but we didn’t have the means to see much beyond the area where we grew up. This new world has been thrust upon us: it is no wonder that we want to like, Don Quixote, reach for the sword and try to fight our way back to a simpler time.
