Must you win?

“Sometimes not getting what you want is a brilliant stroke of luck.” ― Lorii Myers,

The big difference between school and real life is that at school the odds are stacked in your favor–there are people there who are intentionally seeking to help you win (learn, pass, graduate).

But in real life?

Answer me this: “How many people get up each day and make it their goal in life to help you succeed?”

Call me a cynic, but I’m guessing there will be very few.

That doesn’t mean people wish you harm or are intentionally devising plans to destroy your life (at least not most people). But I’m pretty certain that your best interest is not the guiding principle behind most decisions being made in the public square and where you work, trade, and spend your leisure time.

But what would happen if a person, a company, a church…you… began to operate under the premise: I win only if others win.

Now that would be a game-changer.

But let’s go big…

Do you always have to win?

What would it look like if you dared to operate under the premise: “It’s okay if only you win.”
