Once and done

“You cannot make yourself feel something you do not feel, but you can make yourself do right in spite of your feelings.” _Pearl S. Buck

Make as many once and done decisions as you can.

For example, don’t decide every Sunday whether or not you are going to attend church. Is church the priority on Sunday or not? Decide and be done with it.

Marriage troubles? Spouse not making your happy? A co-worker is promising to make you happy? Decide…did you promise for “better or worse till death do we part” or not?

Are you going to give your best at work or not? Does it depend on whether or not you feel like it or whether the boss treats you right or your co-workers carry their fair share of the load? Or do you give your best because that is who you are? Decide once and for all and be done with it.

Are you a tither? Saver? Operate by a budget?

How often are you going to read your bible? When exactly?

Pray?

Exercise?

When is it okay for you to gossip? Lie? Steal?

Decide and be done with it.

There’s enough tough choices in your life without adding to the stress by repeatedly having to decide on issues that should have been resolved a long time ago.

The ONE THING for today: There is something satisfying and liberating (and extremely beneficial) about making a once-and-done decision, shutting the door on the matter, walking away and saying “case closed.”

Do it as often as you can.
