Good evening, and welcome to #ourCOG Daily Brief for December 2, 2025.

In today’s top stories, a new X feature reveals that many divisive U.S. political accounts are foreign-based, likely profiting from outrage. Meanwhile, Boston and other cities are innovating with mixed-use buildings, stacking homes above libraries to create affordable housing and foster community. On the political front, President Trump’s immigration crackdown has intensified following the attack on National Guard members, increasing scrutiny on immigrants. The U.S. Army is rapidly updating its forces with a million drones a year to keep pace with changing warfare tactics. And in New York, Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani is beginning a wary rapprochement with the city’s influential financial community, suggesting potential concessions from both sides. Internationally, Lebanon continues to grapple with an unfulfilled ceasefire, as Israel keeps striking and neither Hezbollah has disarmed nor Israel withdrawn, despite Beirut’s efforts. President Trump’s foreign policy draws scrutiny as he pardons a Honduran drug trafficker while vowing to attack drug trafficking elsewhere. And in his quest for critical minerals, a U.S.-brokered peace deal between militias in Congo has seen new violence break out.

Moving to our video content, we’ve had a diverse array of spiritual insights and festive tunes. Catch up on short form content like “Being Filled with the Holy Spirit” with Jonathan Vorce, reminding us of the power of faith with “Faith can move mountains,” and get into the holiday spirit with “Chapel | Christmas Music | December 2, 2025.”

From our FaithNews RSS feed, we note that Smith was honored with the Spirit of Azusa Award, more Americans are embracing ‘Animal Gifting’ this Christmas, a new foundation has announced a partnership to support military families in need, and Church of God Publications has released the 75th Anniversary Edition of the “Red Back Hymnal.”

In prophecy news, the Trump FDA has controversially stated that COVID shots ‘killed’ at least ten children, with Chief Medical Officer Vinay Prasad slamming the Biden administration’s push for these vaccines. We also hear of a mysterious interstellar object that appears to be pulsing. Other developments include President Trump pushing to reopen the California coast to offshore drilling, while social media users are surprisingly declaring Somalia “Heaven on Earth.” In Canada, People’s Party leader Maxime Bernier has vowed to reopen the abortion debate following viral videos exposing late-term killings. And in a remarkable moment in Jewish history, for the first time since the Temple’s destruction, Levites have returned to sing on the Temple Mount.

Finally, in Jewish history, looking back at December 3rd, we remember several significant events. In 311, the sixty-six-year-old Emperor Diocletian passed away. Fast forward to 1368, the birth of Charles VI, the French king who would later order the expulsion of Jews from his realm in 1394, an order that stood for centuries. Interestingly, in 1447, Bayezid II was born, the very Sultan who, in 1492, would formally invite and send ships to safely bring Jews expelled from Spain and Portugal to his empire. A less fortunate event occurred in 1490, as Lodovico Maria Sforza expelled all Jews from the duchy of Milan. And in 1656, the first entry in Thomas Burton’s diary recorded the activities of Parliament during the era of Oliver Cromwell.
