Quoting from a sermon by a Church of God preacher from the 1970s. Notice #3 & #4. It seems to be the type of worship being promoted in many CoG churches today. What do you think?

1. There is something seriously wrong when the vessel robs the treasurer of its glory – when the box attracts more attention than the Jewel it bears.
2. God has said, “My glory will I not give to another.” (Isaiah 42:8).
3. There is in our day, a very disturbing tendency in the direction of the theatrical, the spectacular manner of presenting the Gospel both in preaching and in singing.
4. Somewhere down the road the Holy Spirit will have to undo such fleshly endeavors.

  1. In the 70’s the churches had already started back sliding. Now we are no longer a Pentecostal denomination.

  2. We are curiseO mattics now, and don’t want the truth anymore, Its tickle my ears, and entertain me. tell me every things alright.

  3. Oh !! How we have greived the Holy Spirit…. Is He Really WELCOMED IN OUR CHURCHES TODAY . MY CHILDREN CANNOT BELIEVE THE DIFFERENCE HOW THEY Were REARED AND HOW IT IS TODAY. May God awaken us !!!!

  4. Why do we support by our attendance the kind of services where the whole TRUTH is not preached and where there is so much worldliness?

Are not we just as guilty as those that propagate such a gospel?

Are we allowing ourselves to die because we supposedly love a particular church?

Romans 1:32 King James Version (KJV)
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

2 John 10-11King James Version (KJV)
10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

Are we bidding them God’s speed by attending?
