Renovatus Fort Mill!

In January of 2011, we will celebrate the 5-year anniversary of Renovatus.  It has been an extraordinary journey thus far, taking us from the chapel of Resurrection Lutheran Church, to a ministry center on Central Avenue, to Elizabeth Elementary School, to Eastland Mall, and now to our home in West Charlotte.  We have always been a nomadic, restless people—people of God on the road.

The remarkable (and unexpected) blessing of a home at Little Rock has not dulled our adventurous side.  For the last few months, our leaders have been praying about what God would call us to do with the unprecedented momentum and energy He has given to the Renovatus movement this year.  Rather than settling down or settling in, we believe we haven’t seen anything yet in light of the scope of city-wide renovation.

And repeatedly, my heart has been drawn towards Fort Mill, SC.  This past Sunday, I announced that on Saturday March 5th, we will launch an ongoing Saturday night worship experience in Fort Mill at the Broadcast Group (8400 Regent Parkway (1420 Convention Drive), Fort Mill, SC.

The Broadcast Group is best known for being the former PTL studio, once the home of Jim and Tammy Baker’s show.  If you’ve been around us long, you know how excited I get about the prospect of God redeeming and restoring spaces!  This is a ministry that has been marked by breaking people’s disillusionment with Church.  So I couldn’t dream up a more perfect fit for us.  And we already love the great folks at the Broadcast Group—it’s a beautiful space run by a beautiful group of folks.

As we prepare to celebrate 5 years of God’s faithfulness, we are unabashedly, unashamedly embracing the call to reach more people in more parts of our city.  I can’t wait to see what God is going to do in Fort Mill, Rock Hill, Pineville, Ballantyne and areas of South Charlotte that will be opened up to Renovatus in a whole new way.

As I shared Sunday, I will be preaching live every weekend in Fort Mill as well as both Sunday services at Little Rock.  Everybody will have the opportunity to get a taste of the facility when we have our combined 5-year anniversary experience on Sunday January, 30th at 10:30am.  We are going to celebrate God’s great faithfulness over the last 5 years, and anticipate en explosive move of God in 2011.  For pics of the facility, click here:
