Should a Church of God disclose to prospective members how much the pastor and staff are salaried? Should they be able to see how church funds are disbursed before joining?

Money shouldn’t even be an issue when it comes to preaching the gospel. “Freely give as you have freely received”…

Absolutely!! It is the membership of the church that is paying their big salaries. So without a doubt, the members should be aware of the total finances of the church!!

It’s posted on the wall monthly at our church

I give a full report to every member and supporter every month, not only how much is recieved, Tithe, Gen Fund, Special and Missions, and how much is spent; check #, date, to whom, for what and how much. It is all there.

Why would sometime join a church if they didn’t trust the leadership to begin with?

I would say that a balance sheet showing total income and expenses would be appropriate. Individual salaries should not be disclosed to prospective members. They can learn after membership. Sharing how funds are managed at the macro level demonstrates how the church is administering the fund received. Most likely, prospective members are wanting to ensure biblical stewardship.
