stuff i’m learning

On June 1, I started my E90 project to read through the Bible this Summer. One thing I did not not like about this is the fact that I had to put on hold my Bible reading plan that started back in January. Once E90 is finished, I will pick it back up, however.

Only six days in and and I am reading things that I do not remember reading before. I have read through the Bible several times in my life. I have heard it preached and taught my entire life. Today, two things jumped out at me as being fresh. I love when that happens. I would never presume to know nearly everything in the Bible but it is humbling and exciting to feel like you’re grasping a new concept in a new way.

One of the things I hadn’t seen before is that Moses sent his wife and children away for a while to spend time with her parents. This happened while Moses was leading the Israelites through the dessert. I didn’t remember that detail. The idea spoke to me about protecting and preserving our families from certain difficult ministry situations.

The other thing that was fresh to me was the following verses:
Exodus 24:9 Then Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and the seventy elders of Israel climbed up the mountain. 10 There they saw the God of Israel. Under his feet there seemed to be a surface of brilliant blue lapis lazuli, as clear as the sky itself. 11 And though these nobles of Israel gazed upon God, he did not destroy them. In fact, they ate a covenant meal, eating and drinking in his presence!

Pretty cool, huh?

The more I read, the more I want to read. Youversion.com told me today that I am about 5.7% complete with my project. That’s fine by me – I am in no rush.

I hope you’re joining in the E90 process.
