There is a good bit of repetition in the gospels, stories that are told more than once. This is especially true in the Synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke). There … Continue reading →
Read Psalm 93.
Sometimes we struggle in how we look at difficult situations in our life.
We need a reminder that our God is still mightier than the situation at hand. We need a reason to trust Him in the midst of what we are facing, and sometimes we just need Him to help us to trust Him.

If we only trust Him in the good times, what is that worth?
And sometimes we need to determine in our own hearts to trust Him, even in the storm. Sometimes we need to lace up our own boots, and remind our own hearts of just who He is. Sometimes we need to declare – As for me, I will trust in the Lord!
What do I know about my Lord Jesus, that causes me to trust Him in the toughest times of my life?
Think about the temptation that Jesus endured from Satan in Matthew 4. The spiritual battle and enemy that we face is real, but he is already defeated! Jesus made war with Satan and defeated him once for all – his future is sealed, and he only has as much power over you as you allow him.
Jesus was tempted as we are yet did not sin. Through the Holy Spirit we can faithfully face temptation, spiritual battles, and our enemy – because our Jesus is mightier than our enemy!
I Know My Jesus is Mightier than My Sickness!
In Matthew 9:18-26 there are two stories woven together. In one, there is a local Ruler whose daughter has just passed away, in the other there is a woman with an “issue of blood.”
One sickness was troubling, but didn’t lead to death – and Jesus was mightier than that sickness! The other sickness led to the death of the Ruler’s daughter – and Jesus was mightier than even death!
Whatever sickness you might be facing – physical, mental, spiritual – our Jesus is mightier still!
In Matthew 10:23-26, Jesus is telling His disciples and followers that persecution would be coming their way; but, He tells them to not fear those who persecute them – but only fear the Lord God Almighty!
Today, Jesus is still mightier than all our fears!
What is it that is causing you fear and anxiety this morning? What are you dwelling on and what are you going through that has become an immovable mountain in your way? Tell it “be ye removed” by the power of Jesus living in you!
Jesus has defeated my fears – He took them to the cross, when He died for my sin and settled my account with God. He took them in His resurrection when He gave me new life, and promised that one day I would live eternally. And He took them to the right hand of my heavenly Father, and told me that He had gone to prepare a place for me if I would trust in Him!
In light of my Jesus and my eternal future with Him, all fear melts away. I only have hope to look forward to – I only have life to look forward to – I only have peace to look forward to – all because Jesus is still mightier than my enemy, my sickness, and my fear!
