Here is a statement that qualifies as one of the all-time understatements that has ever been written (Speaking of Jesus after his 40-day season of fasting): “And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.” (Matthew 4:2, NKJV).
Duh! No surprise there.
But what may surprise you is that when tempted with food Jesus refused and said: “Man shall not live on bread alone.”

How in the world did Jesus suppress a 40-day-old-hunger?!
Answer: His fasting had developed a greater-than-food hunger, a hunger beyond food.
The ONE THING for today: Do not fool yourself, at its core, fasting is about hunger. But the question is: Hungry for what?

Father God, I have been snacking between meals long enough. I’m tired of killing my appetite for you with “junk food” and not being hungry when you have prepared a meal for me. Let me be clear, I am fasting this season in order to conquer these cravings for lesser things and even harmful things. I want to come through this season hungrier for you than anything this world has to offer. I want to be more healthy–physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Please help me.
