Twas the night before the Super Bowl … 5 years ago today, God, the quarterback, decided to throw a beautiful touchdown pass in the clutch to the receivers, us, and we didn’t get a Vince Lombardi trophy but a beautiful baby girl, and we got to name her Abigail and kiss her from then til now.

We celebrate her life with a heart of thankfulness to God, family, friends, and the church. There have been the challenges, scares, tears, laughs, parties, doctor visits, school trips, family days, and more to come.

It was just yesterday we were changing diapers and now we are filling out paperwork for her to start Kindergarten.  Time does fly. She’s a big sister now and a very good, protective one at that.  She’s smart, diplomatic, and funny! Please continue to keep her in your prayers.

Our prayer is that her heart, mind, and life is set apart for God and His call.  Our prayer is that she is blessing to her family, friends, church, and community all for His glory!

Psalms 103:17But the love of the Lord remains forever with those who fear him. His salvation extends to the children’s children 18 of those who are faithful to his covenant,of those who obey his commandments! 19 The Lord has made the heavens his throne; from there he rules over everything. 20 Praise the Lord, you angels, you mighty ones who carry out his plans, listening for each of his commands. 21 Yes, praise the Lord, you armies of angels who serve him and do his will! 22 Praise the Lord, everything he has created, everything in all his kingdom.

Enjoying The Ride with My Girls,

suddenly

with a burst of wind
I see a
blue
police car
speed violently by
sirens blasting
red lights flashing
chasing
after an eighty-five year old
grandfather of six
father of three
who won’t make it
to the hospital
in time

to tell her he loves her
one last time

Those outside of Christ have a perception of you. They know you are a follower of Christ; but how do they label you? Do they define you by all the beautiful life-giving things you are for, or do they define you by all the things you are against? I once heard it said, “It should […]

In light of exploring the mentality of the Bulgarian people, the following is a personal account of the pressures and techniques used by the Bulgarian Secret Services during communism. The report shows testimony to how agents directly or indirectly got themselves involved by using three basic strategies according to the victim: 1. “‘Soft’ breaking of […]

You can only think about one thing at a time. Don’t believe me? Try spelling aloud, “I love Jesus with all my heart” at the same time as you write down your address on paper. (Go ahead and try it; I’ll wait.) I’m convinced this is a blessing and a gift of God.  There […]

I hope you understand

why
I can’t look you in the eye.
It isn’t because I’m ashamed.
It isn’t because I’m tired.
It’s because I’m blind.
I can see alright,
actually,
if we’re talking about physical sight. But,
I’m blind to your pain.
I’m blind to your needs.
I’m blind to the compassion that lies dormant in my heart.
I’m blind because it’s
difficult
to think of anyone else but me.
But one day I’ll see.
