The English noun pseudonym comes via the French adjective and noun pseudonym, in French originally meaning “(pertaining to) one who writes or publishes under an alias,” and then “(pertaining to) a name chosen by someone to conceal his or her identity.”

“As long as chance rules, God is an anachronism… It is true that if chance rules, God cannot. We can go further…it is not necessary for chance to rule in order to supplant God. All it needs to do the job is to exist.”
– From R. C. Sproul’s book, Not A Chance

“The mere existence of chance is enough to rip God from his cosmic throne. If chance existed, it would destroy God’s sovereignty. If God is not sovereign, he is not God. If he is not God, he simply is not.”
– From R. C. Sproul’s book, Not A Chance

“If chance is, God is not. If God is, chance is not. The two cannot coexist by reason of the impossibility of the contrary (the law of non-contradiction).”
– From R. C. Sproul’s book, Not A Chance

We may throw the dice, but the LORD determines how they fall.
– Proverbs 16:33 NLT

The dice are thrown into the lap, but their every decision is from the LORD.
– Proverbs 16:33 NET Bible

Why is it that we who believe in God take issue with those who claim that everything just came into existence by mere chance, randomnesses, and chaos; and adamantly argue against them by saying that there is a Creator, a Prime Mover (Unmoved Mover); but yet when it comes to the subject of choice, we’re willing to believe that choice arises from a void, a place of mere chance, randomness, and chaos?

Does choice arise from a void? A vacuum devoid of cause and effect? Something from nothing?

We make decisions based on factors that influence and determine those decisions. And those factors do not arise by chance.
