The Tower of Babel in Genesis from the Zondervan commentary:

“11:5-7. Described in anthropomorphic terms, the Lord came onsite to see the people’s work. It can never be said that God judges capriciously and without necessary information.
The LORD said, Behold, the people is one (v. 6). If the whole human race were allowed to remain united in the proud attempt to take its destiny into its own hands and, by its man-centered efforts, to seize the reins of history, there would be no limit to its unrestrained rebellion against God. The kingdom of man would displace and exclude the kingdom of God!”

Seems to me this is a stark picture of today’s culture!
