TWO SUPPOSED PROOF TEXTS FOR KEEPING THE MOSAIC LAW;
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments. (John 14:15, ESV)
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. (Matthew 5:17, ESV)
They simply don’t understand or comprehend that Jesus didn’t give the law, moses did;
For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. (John 1:17, ESV)
He answered them, “What did Moses command you?” (Mark 10:3, ESV)
Christ came to FULFIL the law because we couldn’t, Jesus gave a NEW LAW, that means new commandments which can be summed up in;
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. (John 13:34, ESV)
Jesus was the better moses with a better covenant, you can’t mix the two;
21 No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the patch tears away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear is made. 22 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins-and the wine is destroyed, and so are the skins. But new wine is for fresh wineskins.” (Mark 2:21-22, ESV)
You can’t be justified by the law and you can’t be sanctified by the law;
2 Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? 3 Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? 4 Did you suffer so many things in vain-if indeed it was in vain? 5 Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith- (Galatians 3:2-5, ESV)
The old covenant is obselete;
In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away. (Hebrews 8:13, ESV)
