What does the Church of God teach about speaking in tongues? What are you taught to do in order to speak in tongues?

It is God given from the Holy Spirit. You just can’t spit it out like some churches think.

The word “tongues” is simply another word for “languages”. Also, they are one of many “gifts” of the Spirit. Not everyone will speak in other languages, and it definitely isn’t required to be saved.

I haven’t seen the minutes lately. But they use to teach , that speaking in tongues was the Initial Evidence of the Holy Ghost. I still believe that because everywhere you read in the Bible. except maybe two places. Says they spoke with tongues. So I still believe it is the Initial Evidence.

No I believe you have to be saved. To receive any of the gifts of the Spirit.

You can speak I tongues. And it might be a language someone else speakers. But if it’s The Holy Ghost. We don’t know what we are saying without an interruption. But if the one that speakers that language , happened to be there. They would understand the message. But the Bible speakers of an Unknown tongues. I don’t believe anyone understands without an Interrupter. Because you are speaking directly to God. The devil can’t understand that language. That’s why the Bible says pray for an interrupter. That the Church can receive understanding. Without an interrupter. The Bible says. Speak to yourself and to God.

Charles Page, I think you should know what they teach. You were a licensed minister and still attend a church of God,at least to my understanding.

The unknown toungue is just like it states, unknown. It is directly to God by the Holy Ghost.

I started preaching while I was still in school. I didn’t think to keep up with dates , and ages when you started things back then. Or I didn’t. All I can say I guess I was about sixteen years old when I started. My pastor was good about letting me preach. And in young people’s services. I preached a lot. I remember before I married at 19 years old. I preached a week and a half Revival at Molten Church Of God. And I started dating the one I married. He’s with the Lord now. A great man of God. There wasn’t very many good paying jobs where we lived back then. And on Sunday we went to Church as always. The next day we was leaving to go to Chicago Ill. To find better jobs. But the pastor at Russellville Al. That’s where my husband lived and was raised. So he went to the Church Of God there. The pastor ask me after the Sunday Morning service. If I would preach that night. I said yes. These people were ready for Revival. So I preached. A great service. The pastor came and ask me reckon my husband would put off going to Chicago for me to hold a Revival. I told him to ease over there and ask him. And he did. So we started a Revival. It went on for two weeks. To God be all the Glory. It was a Revival. Sometimes the Alters were full before I got to preach. So it wasn’t me. It was Gods time for Revival. Well I guess y’all are tired reading my stuff. God Bless you all.

The only way is to ask for the Baptism of Holy Spirit or if the Holy Spirit just falls on them. You can not teach someone to speak in tongues as it is an outflow of the Holy Spirit. The focus on tongues should not be the issue, but the infilling of the Holy Spirit.
