What happens to someone who is raised from the dead?

For example: Lazarus. Surely his soul could not have gone to heaven and had to come back. This is more of a discussion promp than anything else. I know there are many theories out there, such as soul sleep.

The bible uses the language alive in the spirit so were not sure. 1 peter 3. God also knows who he is going to allow raised from the dead before the resurrection so its possible in his providence that those bodies souls haven’t left yet. Another theory is we don’t remember heaven if we are raised from the dead because I don’t think we will remember what sin is once were in heaven since our flesh is no longer attached. I still take the stance that traditionally a soul which encompasses a spirit if I’ve understood this correctly goes to paradise at death. If its a unbeliever while scripture is vague revelation would imply they go to hell to await eternal judgement. In both cases the body is resurrected to the soul in the 1st resurrection or 2nd.

  2. James Gore says:

Lazarus was actually in Heaven. In that day there was a group that believed that the soul didn’t leave for three days. So to be truly believed dead by everyone Lazarus had to stay dead fir three days

  3. Thato Masiu says:

That place is NOT heaven: Jesus requested that they remain two (2) days before going to raise Lazarus up (John 11:1-6) and they went and our Lord Jesus Immanuel Christ raised Lazarus from the dead (John 11:30-46, Revelation 20:12-13). Our Lord Jesus Immanuel Christ had been there for three (3) days and this is what He says (John 20:17). And His Father, our Father is in heaven (Isaiah 66:1, Matthew 6:9)

when I get to heaven I will be sure to find Lazarus and ask him about this. I think he was proobably hanging out with Abraham and Isaac and they said “hey Lazarus, Jesus is calling!, you gotta go back!”

  5. Aaron B Lister says:

    It’s rediculously simple.

Lazarus did not have a soul, Lazarus was a soul.

Therefore Lazarus was dead as dead gets in the grave.

Jesus brought the soul who was Lazarus back to life again.

    Easy peasy.

  6. John Humes says:

Jesus was the fullness of YHWH in the flesh. If he wanted to return Lazarus to the living, he could. End of discussion. If you cannot agree on the Word of God as his people how will you ever defend it to the gentiles..?
