God called out his people before the world begun, he knew them in Christ and predestined them for glory.
God knows all things from eternity to eternity. -
God knowing who will be saved before anyone alse. The predestined ones and them only respond to the gospel call because of God’s electing love in Christ.

I recommend you go to the youtube channel soteriology 101 and watch some videos by Dr. Leighton Flowers. Hes very knowledgeable about all this and Calvinism. I’ve learned alot from him.

Predestination is the comforting teaching that God will take care of Christians according to a plan that He established and maintains.

Predestination – is an act of God in prefixing the destiny of His People to be made like Christ by the act of his Good pleasure of his Will and Purpose – before the foundation of the World –

The best explanation is in the Bible. Too many think the doctrine of predestination begins in Roman’s 9. However it is more understandable if you begin at Roman’s 8:28-29 and through the rest of the book of Romans. Predestination is only for those described in Roman’s 8:28 and this is fantastic. Predestination has nothing to do with five point calvinism. John Calvin was dead 50 years when a committee at Dordrecht in Holland was under pressure to respond to another extremist position given by Jacob Arminius.

Why do so many people ask questions about subjects they obviously haven’t done much research for themselves. Whatever happened to read the Bible and find out yourself. Or is that too hard?

It’s usually the end of any missions or discipling. As most beliefs in predestination claim that God has already chosen the ones He will call to Him. So there is no need to waste time trying to reach out to those He has not predestined

God chooses who He wants. The rest are damned. We have nothing to do or say about it. 🙂

God predestined all of us to be like his son Jesus Christ. But of course not everyone choose this path but rather rebel against God and wanted to choose their own destiny.

Most scientists for example reject Jesus Christ. They make fun of the gospel. They hate God.
So when they go to hell, whose to blame? -

The quezion of what is presestination isn’t uniform. Calvin had double predestination Luther single predestination. The Lutherans had a predestination controversy backo er a cenrtuemry ago on Wyeth it was a based on foreknowledge or grace and that separated the Synodical Conference from the rest of Lutheranism. So you have several choices. Take your pick or do a new one.

You’ll have a lot of Calvinists on this thread telling you that certain people are chosen by God…predestined…to be saved. That is far from biblical.
Predestination (or some variation of the word) is only mentioned four times in three passages:
Romans 8:29-30
29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

In scripture, no lost people are ever predestinated to be converted.
Only saved people are predestinated, and the predestination is not initiated until after conversion.Post-conversion Believers are predestinated to these future things according to scripture.
1. To be conformed to the image of Jesus (Rom. 8:29; 1 John 3:2).
2. The redemption of the body, called “adoption” (Eph. 1:5; Rom. 8:23).
3. Inheritance in heaven (Eph. 1:11 [KJV], 1 Pet. 1:1-9).
4. Holy and without blame before him.All of these are future things that happen long AFTER conversion.

Predestination is taught in the book of Romans in the context of God’s people being predestined to belong to him. However if God is all powerful and all knowing we can logically conclude that everything that comes to pass is determined by God. RC Sproul explains that if one atom in the universe was out of God’s direct control he would not be God. It is the most comforting doctrine in all of scripture.

It means predetermined and has a subject object relationship. In the context of scripture, the subject is God and the object is man. The thing that is predetermined is the destination of the soul in eternity.

A topic that has been debated for centuries.
For me, Ephesians 1-2 answers all the questions. Predestined before the foundation of the world, salvation only available through the finished work of Jesus Christ. Solus Christus and Soli Deo Gloria! -

There is not one doctrine, but several.
One is Calvinistic that basically says that your whole life is preset, you do not have any ability to do anything other than what you are preplanned, by God to do. This is the view of now free will, as well.

It depends on how one defines predestination. If you define it as a few selected people who go to heaven while everyone else is doomed to hell, then this understanding is not Biblical. There’s too much scriptural evidence to the contrary, and the ‘elect’ are those who choose Christ, not the ones God chooses for Christ.
If you define predestination as God having predestined the species of mankind to be saved by the blood of Jesus, then this is Biblical, and there are many verses which support this understanding.
There may be intermediate definitions of which I’m not familiar, but these are the two which come to mind.

I believe it means that there are only a select few that God has already called to be saved and that no one else can be saved. But this negates free will and also negates that ANYONE can come to God just by confessing sins. predestination (IMHO) actually negates the whole NT since Jesus’s death on the cross and resurrection is already decided for a select few, BUT would still have to be carried out for those select few to make it to heaven in the first place.
