What’s does “Under the law” mean to you?
I’ll respond as much as I can to answer what I disagree with.

I think that part of what it might mean is the national identification of Israel as belonging to Yahweh and needing to obey all kinds of moral, civil, and ceremonial laws, not necessarily divided into just those. It makes sense that if a people were going to identify with Yahweh, they would need to do all the right things to reverence Him. The law always condemned at the end of the day, though people were always saved by the spirit of God in the OT as in the NT. The short answer is that there was more of the spirit in the NT era onward. When Jesus was revealed, grace and truth were revealed and made manifest in a glorious way. John one says that God’s glory tabernacles amongst us in Christ, which means Messiah. There is so much that can be said, but the law is not a bad thing. It is a schoolmaster to bring is to Christ. It makes us see how far short we fall and hence how much need we have.

If we are forced to do something, it can’t be done in love.
The law is supposed to be done in love.
That’s part of the curse. The law could only be kept if we didn’t have to keep it.
We do it now as an act of love, not as a requirement for heaven. -
“Under” means under the authority of. “Law” probably refers To the Jewish law set down in the first five books of the Bible (it can also mean any rule of religious belief).
These two verses in Romans 6 might help. Here law is pitted against grace. You might want to also check out Romans 7:4.
Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.

Could you post chapter and verse regarding the law that you’re speaking about so we can put it into context? Not all laws are the same.

The Mosaic law

It doesn’t mean anything. In Christ we’re not under the mosaic law…we’re under the law of Christ. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your mind, and all your strength…and the second is equal to it, love your neighbor as yourself. In these 2 all the law is fulfilled. Thats the kingdom of God and how the world sees Christ in us…Through love for one another

Obedience to the law of moses for salvation.

It means to be under the authority and judgment of the law.

Trying to be ‘good enough’ to go to heaven.

Under the ceremonial or civil portions of the law of Moses. There have been writings discovered among the dead sea scrolls the differentiates those portions from the general moral law. Otherwise if I say I am not under the law then I have license to commit adultery, murder, theft etc

During Jesus’ ministry on the Earth, He was under the Mosaic Law. Afterward, He was under a different priesthood. Hebrews 5-10, Romans 6-8; Hebrews 7:12 says, “for the priesthood being changed, of necessity also, of the law a change doth come” and 1 John 3:4b says, “sin is the transgression of the law”. Putting those together we see that the change of priesthood that changed the law means that sin comes from breaking the new law (“The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus”) and we have been made free from the old law (“The Law of Sin and Death”) – Romans 8:2.

Like the faithful before Moses. They were not under the Law cuz it didn’t exist yet.

Prior to the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ the law was what people were subject to. Romans 6:14 states we aren’t under the law anymore but under grace.
