[Let’s look at Abraham’s encounter with the LORD as his Angels were on the way to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham was sitting at the door of his tent to enjoy the refreshing air in the heat of the day, when the sun had most power (a custom still common among the Asiatic people).] “And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground, And said, My Lord, IF NOW I HAVE FOUND FAVOUR IN THY SIGHT, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant: Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:” (Gen. 18:2-4) [Notice Abraham called this visitor “My Lord” (‘ădônây in the original language; used as a proper name of God only meaning “my Lord” notice upper case “L” other letters in lower case. Abraham had a meal and other refreshments prepared for these very special guests and as they were waiting the LORD said:] “And they said unto him, where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent. And he (the LORD) said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, SARAH THY WIFE SHALL HAVE A SON. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him. Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. Therefore SARAH LAUGHED WITHIN HERSELF, saying, after I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?” (Gen. 18:9-12) [Note here that Sarah used the word “lord” all lower case (‘âdôn in the original meaning lord, master, owner which of course Abraham was all of these. The LORDs response was:] “And the LORD said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old? Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and SARAH SHALL HAVE A SON.” (Gen. 18:13-14) [Notice the LORD refers to Himself as “LORD” all uppercase which comes from the word “yehôvâh” which means the self-Existent or eternal one. The LORD spoke, and IT WAS DONE; He commanded, AND IT CAME TO PASS! How great and wonderful is our God!]
