How many years do you have for the explanation? lol!
-
Because there are so many different people
-
“Unity of belief does not mean conformity of expression”…Ravi
-
Because man is corruptable, look at the Catholic church. Just my opinion.
-
I think it’s because we get caught up in the minors
-
Because of man’s unnatural desire to conquer and control. And also because everyone believes they have the right interpretation of the Bible instead of letting it speak for themselves their fleshly nature gets in the way.
-
People sometimes stray from the true teachings.
-
1.Because everyone has a opinion. We don’t just read the Bible for what it is.
2. Everyone’s feelings get Involved
3. People over complicate things. For example:
(The text says “blue”. People say it’s “Royal Blue” it’s “light blue” it’s “navy blue” it’s “baby blue” it’s “sky blue” …..ITS JUST BLUE!) ?This is why we have denominations ??♂️
-
Because when people disagree, they tend to divide. They tend to argue over stupid things and never talk to each other again. In short, fallen man.
-
Different takes on the non-negotiables.
-
Majoring on the minors
-
True Christianity has nothing to do with denominations These divisions from the centrality of Christ arise because man is carnal and unwilling to submit to the leadership of the Holy Spirit. MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON US!!
-
Honestly I strongly believe it’s the lack of hermeneutics, the study of proper interpretation of the scripture.
-
Because there are so many people??
-
Cause the holy ghost dont move one way lol
-
Because the Bible is so confused & contradictory that just about anyone can justify just about anything from it
-
Pride, ignorance and apostacy .
-
People don’t learn to tolerate each other.
-
It is because of disobedience & pride. Modern man has invented the false belief of “Private Interpretation”. These are the fruits of that belief. BTW, this is an issue in protestantism primarily.
-
And one Bible!!! Baffles me ?.

If we ever can get to the point where we can respect but disagree with our denominational slents and get to what the scriptures teach verses our own opinion we will do well. The denominations are here to stay including the Roman Catholic Church.
Jesus is not coming back for a certain Denomination. he is coming back for individuals who comprise of his Church. This Church is more a denomination., the Church is a live organism Jesus said if we follow him we would know the truth and the truth would set us free. People have not been taught how to read and study the Bible and in love to debate its truth with respect to others’ belief systems, when it comes to denominationalism. Dealing with false religion, and cults is a different matter altogether.
-
The thing is it confuses new Christians. I pray that the fruits of the spirit is used more in the Christian community, so that we can be united in Christ ??
-
Because the devil loves confusion. He masquerades himself as an angel of light and dwceives those who don’t study the Bible for themselves but rely on what they are told by the pastors who have been deceived themselves.
-
Location, culture, history, customs, language, accessibility, education, war zones, hostility of governing political bodies, travel, isolation, censorship, fashion, conflicting ideologies, economic restraints or successes, hostile neighbouring countries, philosophical skills, available translations, teachers, division, diaspora, cataclysmic events, decree, heretical teaching, good leadership, poor leadership, repression, revolution… are only just a few reasons why there are so many denominations.
-
Because people read and interpret the Bible through their worldview instead of forming their worldview through a biblical filter
-
Great question!! Reading Paul’s epistles, you become aware that even then the pure gospel was being adulterated and men were spreading their own ideas leading others astray. Hence Paul’s warning, “if any man preach another gospel than that we have preached, let him be accursed. Good thing we have the Bible as our instruction Manual and the Holy Spirit, the willing helper. And Paul did warn that there would be a “falling away”.
-
I personally believe many cannot understand the simplicity of the new covenant and are bent on adding some man made efforts into the equation.
-
Cause no one can agree on what is true and false in the bible, or people have understood a different way compared to others.

YOUR answer is in your question: RELIGION
JESUS is a relationship NOT a religion .
Follow HIM and His Word only and eschew any form of legalism, dogma and MANs dictums= R E L I G I O NJESUS said:
I AM THE WAY.
I am the TRUTH and the LIFE
NO MAN comes to the FATHER but THROUGH ME.
Jesus is easy to love, His ways are not our ways.
Follow His word. Be obedient in your thoughts and choices each day as best we can AS FLAWED HUMANS and know His mercy, grace and forgiveness are NEW EACH day .HOW BLESSED AND INCREDIBLY awesome is that to know that
GOD…. IS enough.

The multiplicity of denominations is because a lack of adherence to sola scriptura, either in doctrine or in application.
-
Because of different views and opinions

Though this truth will upset many…denominations in the Christian faith are the work of Satan. Satan is a formidable military strategist who relentlessly practices “divide and conquer”…Satan was able to take the pride of men and use same to divide an incredibly strong and unified first-century church and fragment it into warring, bickering, nitpicking, men and women who argue over the color of carpet, baptism, tongues, formality of worship, the Lord’s Supper, music in worship, translations of the Bible…and Satan has been incredibly effective in diminishing the power and strength of the Church to impact the World for Jesus Christ.
-
Denominations enables the church to grow and take the gospel to all nations.
However, it is following in the footsteps of the Master as written in the scriptures that makes us Christians not our denominations.
The church of Christ is the ‘ecclesia’ despite its numerous gatherings.
That is why we call sinners to repent from their sins and come to Christ ,not a denomination. -
Because everybody gets their little piece of the pie and think they are right and everyone else is wrong. ?

To answer this question, we must first differentiate between denominations within the body of Christ and non-Christian cults and false religions. Presbyterians and Lutherans are examples of Christian denominations. Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses are examples of cults (groups claiming to be Christian but denying one or more of the essentials of the Christian faith). Islam and Buddhism are entirely separate religions.
Some denominations emphasize slight doctrinal differences, but more often they simply offer different styles of worship to fit the differing tastes and preferences of Christians. But make no mistake: as believers, we must be of one mind on the essentials of the faith, but beyond that there is great deal of latitude in how Christians should worship in a corporate setting. This latitude is what causes so many different “flavors” of Christianity. A Presbyterian church in Uganda will have a style of worship much different from a Presbyterian church in Colorado, but their doctrinal stand will be, for the most part, the same. Diversity is a good thing, but disunity is not. If two churches disagree doctrinally, debate and dialogue over the Word may be called for. This type of “iron sharpening iron” (Proverbs 27:17) is beneficial to all. If they disagree on style and form, however, it is fine for them to remain separate. This separation, though, does not lift the responsibility Christians have to love one another (1 John 4:11-12) and ultimately be united as one in Christ (John 17:21-22).
-
There’s only one church and that ain’t a denomination it’s His body.
-
because people believe what they WAnT to believe rather than truth
-
Because Satan is the Father of Confusion. There’s no such thing as an “denomination” in Christianity. They’re manmade opinions added to the Bible by many who don’t know how to interpret Scripture or want to twist Scripture to meet their wicked lifestyle. As for me I am NON-Denominational…and As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
-
Bible is understood by people in different ways this lead to different denominations but they are believe in bible and believe in salvation through Christ.
-
Because people misinterpret the Bible.
-
The answer to this goes all the way back to eve. “If you eat this, you’ll be like God.”
The reason for so many religions is because every man has their own definition of right and wrong. We all want to be our own judge.
-
People opinions and not relying on the Holy Spirit leads to many denominations… until we come together… it will continue to be difficult for christians…
-
Read I Corinthians 3. There were Christians that followed the teachings of different pastors in the early ekklesia. They were not denominations per se. But there was division amongst varying theologies and ideologies.
-
They like ,without rightly dividing the Word of God.
-
I am a Protestant Southern Baptist conservative and I thank god for making me such.
It came down to interpetation. It also has to do with what was done with the interpetation and the man made “rules” that caused the protest (i.e. Protestant) reformation from the Catholic Church.
I have deep respect for all denominations (well, most of them) as I believe we may be all on different roads, but the journey will lead us to God. -
Revelations even speaks of 7 churches. And in the time of Paul there were many churches -in Corinth, in Greece, in Rome, in Ephesus, in Athens, etc.
God speaks to people in many ways and there are many works of the Holy Spirit. Revelations tells us of all the believers in the NATIONS of the world (with different backgrounds and cultures) coming together as one in the Last Day.
Dont be concerned of denominations but of the TRUTH. Christians can argue about small things (even the early Christian leaders in Acts 15 did it). But make sure to be right with the Lord in His main tenets in the bible –
the Lordship of Jesus,
the Ddoctrine of Salvation by Faith through Grace, not of works or the law.
The Trinity
The power of the Holy Spirit to sanctification
And the resurrection of the dead in the last daysThese in my opinion are main things that are inarguable.

Christian Freedom

A denomination is a group of people that adhere to the same doctrinal errors.
