Wisdom and discernment needed to address this issue.. what’re your takes on churches that prohibit the use of technology like phones and tablets during services? Is it something the church can divide over?

During the sermon or preaching? Or use as a device to help preach?

I see them in church’s all of the time. I think a preacher would rather they use their phone for the scriptures than not reading a Bible at all. Some tape the pastors message too or video. As long as they don’t hold it high up in the air. This is so trivial to divide a church. It must be full of older folks set in their old ways in church and the younger generation.

It’s like telling women not to wear bathing suits to the beach just in case someone looks at them and cover themselves with a tent.What it is actually designed to do, is to keep people in bondage, in chains so they have no access to information that would identify the cult to be false.
If you get suspicious you are in a cult then the cult leaders will accuse you of having an issue with authority, you have a demonic spirit, you are denying God, becoming of the world and will eventually excommunicate you from their religion, branding you as a rebel and rebellious, not worthy of salvation and warning people that you are dangerous, like a wolf ? in sheep’s clothing.
If anyone recognises the above, get your family together and get out now, today, they are narcissist, liars not of God.

I prefer the pastor holding his Holy Bible and read from it not from a cellphone..

Books were a new invention once; did people complain then that preachers weren’t using scrolls or clay tablets?
As long as we are accessing God’s word and worshipping him, where’s the problem?

Fine with it as long as people aren’t scrolling FakeBook and whatnot, rather actually following along with scripture or taking notes.

If it distracts you or someone else from worship it should not be used

That had long been a matter of respect for what is public mcally going on, such sismde distraction are rude. Schools don’t normally wow it not conceerts nor ant public galthering or has that changed in recent year. I re all the passing of notes during class time was forbidden I. School as we visiting the people arroynd toy during class.

As always, it’s not about the thing itself, but about the qualities of the people – are they bored and disrespectful or are they more highly engaged? It’s a situational problem and not one with a single answer.

Depends to how it is used. And also, it should be self mandatory that when you go to church, you listen and focus on church. It shouldnt be a rule. I guess if that is an issue in church, the pastor as a leader of the church (not the head. Dont misinterpret) should address this in meetings or at the pulpit.
Nowadays, technology is useful in everything even at church. I have my bible in my phone as well as i have my physical book bible. But its more useful to read at phone. Handy.Its the people that should be dealt with actually ??♂️

We Facebook Live every service now. As an outreach program to help with the shut ins and people who cant be there due to sickness or work. I see nothing wrong with using the tools as long as they are glorifying God.

Why would you be using your phone in church?

Personally if the church prohibited such I would honor it, and if the church allowed it I would honor that as well.
