You can’t fire ’em!
“The fruit of the Spirit is self-control, not other-control (Galatians 5:23). God himself does not exercise such power over us, even though he could (2 Peter 3: 9).” — Boundaries in Marriage by Henry Cloud, John Townsend
*****
You can’t fire family.
You can’t fire rowdy and cantankerous neighbors.
You can’t fire lazy, selfish, stab-you-in-the-back co-workers or bosses.
You can’t even fire yourself.
And in those rare situations where you are in a position to actually fire someone it is seldom the first option or best option.
So you ask, “What am I supposed to do?”
Accept the fact that life will always include difficult people.
You can let this reality side-track you or you can say, “What they do is a reflection on them, what I do is a reflection on me.”
The ONE THING for today: Life comes with difficult people. Accept that but never accept that they will stop you from ultimately achieving your desires and dreams…there’s always a way to move forward around, through, or with difficult people.
Finding that way is the boundary over into your promise land.
Let me introduce you to “Mr. Grumpy”. How’d you like to have him waiting on you when you came home each day. Oh! You do.
