TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE CONTINUES TO BE THE LAW OF THE LAND
AFRICAN AMERICAN CLERGY COALITION APPLAUDS THE COURAGEOUS BLACK CAUCUS LEGISLATORS WHO STOOD UP FOR GOD
TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE CONTINUES TO BE THE LAW OF THE LAND IN ILLINOIS
Bishop Larry D. Trotter- Co Chairman of the African American Clergy Coalition (AACC) – is applauding select members of the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus for showing extreme courage in their defense of traditional marriage in Illinois. “Today our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has won! Pastor James Meeks, Bishop Lance Davis and I are so proud of the God fearing Black Caucus members who withstood the pressure of the LGBT forces and allowed God’s word concerning marriage to remain between one man and one woman in Illinois,” says Bishop Trotter.
Despite threats of political retaliation and mass criticism, Senate Bill 10 never was called for a vote due to the very strong resiliency of select bi-partisan members of the Illinois House of Representatives. AACC views the attempted redefinition of Marriage legislation as a direct insult and disregard of God’s word that clearly describes marriage between one man and one woman. “While today’s victory is historic, the real fight continues tomorrow morning. Collectively the black church must continue to defend the word of God by speaking boldly of our beliefs, our convictions and our faith. We thank Cardinal George and the Catholic Conference of Illinois, the National Organization of Marriage, Illinois Family Pac and the Illinois Family Institute for their support in this endeavor,” adds Bishop Lance Davis, Co- Chair of the AACC.
