Was Judas ever an authentic Christian?

He was a thief and never become a true disciple of Christ.

He was a follower of Jesus and the accountant of the group. The Bible says that he felt extreme guilt over betraying his leader and hung himself on a tree yet other accounts say his guts just fell out along a path. Which is it?

The word DOES say that it would be better for him if he had not been born. That means ‘not saved’ to me. Sadly.

Never! Any one with true faith will never depart. True believers never can lose their Salvation. If someone appears to have fallen away and they do not ever repent all that proves is they were never true believers to begin with

No he was never saved. Even if he had been he would have been identified as a Jew, a Messianic Jew, completed or fulfilled Jew

No. He never understood salvation and Jesus’ message. He betrayed Jesus in the biggest way possible. He didn’t repent and turn back to God. Rather he committed yet another sin, suicide. Jesus said, it would be better for him, if he had never been born. To me, that means he is NOT SAVED and will be thrown into the lake of fire.

That’s a great question. Then the next is can a believer lose his salvation. Perhaps Jesus answers this in John 17:12. Seems to imply that Judas was a believer and the only believer that was ever lost, but it was planned that way. John 17:12
12 While I was with them, I was keeping them in Your name which You have given Me; and I guarded them and not one of them perished but the [a]son of perdition, so that the Scripture would be fulfilled.

That does not imply he was saved. He was chosen for God’s purpose that His word would stand and be fulfilled.

He was a scammer just hooking up to the movement to get his hand on the donations. Tons of organizations have thieves pretending to be whatever with their only real intent is to access the money.

I do believe he was. Otherwise what use did he have for returning the silver and hanging himself? If he did not belief Jesus was who he said he was, it would be a stretch to say that he did not.

He is the treasurer. There’s a verse that says he steal from the money of the group. Sorry to forget what exact verse was it. Hope someone share it here.

We don’t know his heart, but God did. He was given the same authority as the apostles to go out two by two and do the same miracles. Was he a full believer at one time or just playing the game. Only Jesus knew at the time

Judas was as the seed planted on Rocky soil in Parable of the Sower in Luke 8, he was a follower,then turned away. The Lord would not have given an unbeliever the power to heal and cast out demons, if he weren’t at some point a believer

“Christ-ian” = “Christ-like” …. that is, “like Christ” in words and behavior, or in other words, being a follower of Jesus and His Holy Teachings. Judas was the first and only of the Apostles to “fall away” and betray Jesus …. “a son of the devil” …. who turned away from Jesus and served the evil one …. having been filled with the lie(s) that he followed …. in betraying Jesus. God knows.

Hmmm. Probably not. He has a mistaken belief that the Messiah was to be a military general that would lead Israel out of the bondage of Rome.

Judas was disappointed that Jesus did not measure up to his expectation. He chose not to be a part of God’s Salvation message that Jesus was proclaiming. The other Disciples were confused, Judas betrayed Christ wanting personal gains instead of what Jesus was preaching. Accepting Jesus today as Savior is the same today, accept Him or tell Him you don’t want anything to do with Him on earth and in Eternity. It is a choice.
