You got to remember how old Christianity is compared to Islam and also how old Judaism is compared on Islam. You can tell how Islam is a cult that demands total submission by force and trickery. Obviously, if you haven’t noticed, that saying was not taken from the Qur’an, but a Hadith called Sahih al-Bukhary, and apparently the same saying is also recorded in Sahih Abu Dawud and Sahih Muslim. And perhaps a bit less obvious if you don’t know Arabic, that it isn’t talking specifically about the teachings given to Muhammad, but simply talking about the state of purity at Fitra, or the natural disposition at birth. And the logic is, the Jewish/Christian/Zoroastrian teachings as presented by the Qur’an, were once legitimate religions but corrupted by novel teachings. The reasoning behind this probably came from Sura Al-a3raf (7):172-173

Obviously, that quote attributed to Muhammad and supposedly that verse are altogether an attack against the doctrine of Original Sin, that man is born pure and only corrupted afterwards.

I think the quote from Bukhari may be viewed different ways. If we run with Islam meaning submission most Muslim scholars are agreed that even Moses was submissive to God. Where they go wrong is to conclude that people submissive to God should be classified as Muslims, especially if the time frame is before Jacob/Israel was born. They want Islam to be the first religion. They need Islam to be the first religion. Muslim scholars are generally agreed that different time frames had different sharias, even if only slightly different, so Moses had a sharia he provided for the Jews and Jesus had a sharia for those who follow him (Christians). Muhammad, being considered by Muslims to be the last prophet, also had his sharia which is either intended as the final sharia for all or for those who follow Muhammad. Muhammad’s sharia is what we know today as Islam. Chronology makes Muhammad and Islam last where is could be argued that his teachings are inconsistent with the prior sharias and teachings, making Islam a false religion, yet it remains primarily a governmental system without national boundaries. I believe we must be careful of laughing of someone belief as a Christian. This conversation is even a non-starter because Christ was born 503/ 504 years before Muhammad (Mohammed). And for that matter Christianity was as many years as over five Hundred years be4 Islam!!!
