In light of some of the discussions around the “Trinity”…

In light of some of the discussions around the “Trinity” in my previous post on this page. Here is a challenge to people on all sides of this debate:
# Lay your tradition (views on the trinity) aside for a moment
## Study through John chapter 1 (using several versions) slowly and write down all propositions about God, Jesus and the Word – as a List

Then at the end review whether you can make your tradition fit all the propositions of just this chapter. It is my contention that this chapter alone is entirely sufficient to clarify what the catholic (not Roman Catholic) church at large has believed ever since the early church, namely the trinitarian view of the Godhead in the Father , Son and Holy Ghost.

## It is important for you as a believer that you can answer this question outside of your church tradition for yourself

    Because John calls the word God and Jesus is the word of God made flesh!

    John 10:30 says I and the father are of one Accord. We think the same

    Isaiah alone is sufficient. Revelation alone. Genesis alone. Jeremiah. Exodus. Ezekiel. Judges. Virtually every book of the new testament. And yes every chapter of John. All can stand alone and prove the trinity if you know what you’re reading.

    I agree that too often people bring their pre-suppositions to a passage and are therefore emotionally unable to entertain any other view. Worse, they become abusive for no other reason than they disagree. I’ve been on the receiving end.

    However, I don’t think it is correct to say that the early church held a trinitarian view, at least not in the Nicean sense. I believe that view evolved over time.

    I like the verses in Matthew 27:46 where it says “about the ninth hour Jesus cries with a loud voice…that is, “My Self, My Self, why have I forsaken Myself?”
    You know, when God the Father, who cannot be in the presence of sin, had to leave Jesus(who is really Father God) because Jesus, the Son of God, took upon Himself the sins of the world…so God left Himself on the cross…yet He didnt really leave, because Jesus was still there and Jesus is the Father…or in John 16 where Jesus says He must go to Himself, who sent Himself and that it is expedient for Him to go to Himself so that once He is gone, He can send Himself as the Holy Spirit so that the Holy Spirit or Jesus can come back and guide untruth and glorify Jesus (Itself). Then it goes on to say that when we pray to the Father(Jesus) in Jesus(the Father’s) name, Jesus(the Father) will pray to the Father(really Jesus) for us because we loved Jesus(the Father) and believed that Jesus(the Father) came from the Father(Jesus) and came to the world and Jesus(the Father) must now go back to the Father(really Jesus/Hinself)
