Are there two categories of christians, that is christians that are church goers and christians that are Christ like? Because I do wonder why everyone that goes to church sees their selves as christians even when they have not given their life to Christ and are not exhibiting the life of Christ. This is more predominant in Nigeria. When you meet someone to share the gospel, the next thing you will hear is am a Christian, you don’t need to preach to me, we are in the same faith. But when we look at the ills and vices in our society, they are been perpetrated by these sole called christians. So am confused if there are church goer christians and christians because one cannot be a Christian and not be a Christian according to the law of non contradiction. That is one cannot be a Christian and not exhibiting the life of Christ, is either you are a Christian or not. You can be both. I think have heard and also seen in the bible that the word Christian was first used as a result of the Christ like life seen in the life of the disciples of Jesus by the people of Antioch. I think church goers are unbelievers and shouldn’t be addressed as christians just because they go to church and hide under the umbrella of the church. That is why when they perpetrates any evil, they world will tag it to the christians.

Good word. This is true. I was once guilty about this, thought going to church and singing praises to God is being a christian. But i realize its a lifestyle.
So there’s only one christian, that is who is like Christ.

i dont think theres 2 categories,(but probably theres a personal growth cycle for both) theres only Christians – those who follow Christ and live according to His Word. A question we may ask is “do you serve Christ?” and if you do “do you serve Him only an hour a day of the sabbath or do you serve Him everyday for the rest of your life?” it would be great for all of us to follow Christ as our life, than be limited to churchgoing as a “lifestyle”
i know someone who goes to church every sunday yet by his words and some acts contradict the life that is of Christ following. i pray for him that he surpasses all that he doesnt understand, that he overcomes sin and come to terms with being a Christian who follows our Lord Jesus Christ, and submit to His Word and Commandments because he Loves Him. at times i think that the feeling of entitlement is abused with the fact that once we receive Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior as part of our life, then we are saved. so some would wrongly argue the idea that by Grace alone through Faith alone we are Saved to justify unjust deeds of ommission or casual sinning against a brother- just bcoz “good works” will not save you, then most wont incline themselves to do good. i guess it goes with how deep our maturity is as Christians.1John 4:20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.
