Some don’t believe the prophets spoke of one like Jesus.
But not all Jews fit this category. Some do believe Jesus is the Messiah.
Their called Messianic Jews
-
Most expected the conquoring king not a trouble maker. The idea prevalent was that the suffering servant was not the messiah many expected. Rember the request by many that he be their king, after his refusal many turned away from him.

Romans 11:25-36 English Standard Version (ESV)
The Mystery of Israel’s Salvation
25 Lest you be wise in your own sight, I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers:[a] a partial hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written,“The Deliverer will come from Zion,
he will banish ungodliness from Jacob”;
27 “and this will be my covenant with them
when I take away their sins.”28 As regards the gospel, they are enemies for your sake. But as regards election, they are beloved for the sake of their forefathers. 29 For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. 30 For just as you were at one time disobedient to God but now have received mercy because of their disobedience, 31 so they too have now been disobedient in order that by the mercy shown to you they also may now[b] receive mercy. 32 For God has consigned all to disobedience, that he may have mercy on all.
33 Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!
34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord,
or who has been his counselor?”
35 “Or who has given a gift to him
that he might be repaid?”36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.

Complex topic. Try to catch Dr. Michael Brown’s Line of Fire Podcast or radio program. “He will be a holy place; for both Israel & Judah He will be a stone that causes people to stumble & a rock that makes them fall. & for the people of Jerusalem He will be a trap & a snare.” Isaiah 8:14. Jews for Jesus has great resources too.

Because the time of the Gentiles has not been fulfilled
-
Because they believe messiah is a government/ military leader. Rejecting messiah is fulfilling prophecy, which is really ironic.
-
Because they are blind.
-
God has caused spiritual blinders to be on the House of Israel because of their unbelief.
-
Simply because Jesus failed to fulfill the promises of a restored kingdom elevating Israel to prominence among the nations with a restored kingdom, temple, and priesthood.
Christians are so into “evidence” of fulfilled prophesy; yet, Jesus did not restore the kingdom as predicted of the Messiah or Son of Man or whatever you want to called the restored Davidic king.
-
Actually, it was foretold in the book of Isaiah that he would blind them so they wouldn’t recognize the messiah. God has other plans with Israel

Most Jewish sources would point out that the alleged prophecies referenced in the NT are heavily allegorized. Almost none of them are contextually referencing Jesus. Moreover, the Pharisees do a far more sufficient job at exegesis of Scripture than Jesus does when presented with ethical or theological question. A final few note is that several of Paul’s teachings, wherein he quotes from Torah, actually teach the something contra the original meaning of the text.
The best way I can explain this is that Christianity appears to Jews the same way Mormonism appears to Christians. Hope this helps

Yesterday’s Daily Office morning reading tells us that God called them ‘a stiff-necked people’. I guess some things never change…?

Jesus came to save not to restore the kingdom
-
Theological reason – they expected a certain type of Messiah to come in and restore Israel’s glory (one time event) that didn’t happen so H- couldn’t be the Messiah. That’s what a Jewish person would say (the simple version anyway).
What many Jews don’t remember is that at Jesus’ time their was a duel messianic expectation – the lamb/suffering servant and the lion. Judaism changed the first to be the nation as suffering with the lion to come later.
One could add, G-d hardened their heart until the full measure of gentiles could be saved.
It might be also be added that Judaism likes its unique status as G-d’s chosen people coupled with it suffering otherness qualities. To accept Jesus would sully that unique status or identity.
Think about it, the only kind of Jewish evangelism I’ve ever seen is counter missionaries (Jews for Judaism for example) who aren’t trying to save the world but just stop Jews from becoming Christians.
-
They have been and are looking for a reigning King that will physically rule in Israel and restore the promise land, they don’t want to believe a Messiah that they crucified and had an entirely different Kingdom then they wanted.
-
They think the messiah is a political savior rather than a spiritual savior. They don’t recognize their need for a spiritual savior, but are focused in worldly things.
-
The main reason is they were expecting a conquering King like David. But there is a laundry list of reasons. Dr. Michael Brown wrote what I think is the best resource called “Answering Jewish Objections to Jesus” I think it is a 13 book series which covers and answers every known objection.
-
Because if they had to accept that Jesus was the messiah they would also have to accept that they nailed him to a cross.
-
Paul addresses this in Romans 9-11. These passages provide some insight. But let me say this. All of us are products of our culture, our upbringing, families, education, and so much more. Each of us must come to a point of receiving and accepting the gospel of Christ. Many Jewish people are kept in bondage by tradition. They may not venture further than accepting this tradition. God must open their eyes and call them to Christ, just as He had to bring each of us out of our brokenness and the sinful world around us into His glorious light.
-
They have purposely been blinded while God allows the Gentiles to be given the opportunity to receive Christ, but that window will eventually be closed and the Jews eyes will be opened and they will receive Him.
-
They make the same mistake we do. They are looking for a Messiah in their image, in the same way we cut a past a designer god, a god in our image.
-
They think that if the Messiah had come, all things would be peaceful and restored now (they mix up the 1st and 2nd coming), and so they look at the state of the world and decide He hasn’t come yet.
-
Much of Rabbinic Judaism is post crucifixion. The so-called Oral Torah was codified about 200 ad. This is the basis of many jewish customs today. Jewish historian and contemporary of Jesus’ disciples, Flavius Josephus writes that the jewish leaders during Jesus’ life were corrupt. It is on the basis of their rejection of Jesus as Messiah and the codification of the Talmud that modern Jews reject Christ.
-
Its interesting that Jesus preached to the Jews that the kingdom was at hand “now” See had the religious Jews accepted Jesus as the Messiah the kingdom would have come. Of course it was in Gods plan that they would reject him as their king so that the gentiles could be grafted in.
-
Because they don’t believe in Isaiah 53…for if they did ..they would clearly see it is THE MESSIAH JESUS CHRIST”YESHUA”…They are writing about..
-
Isaiah 53 in the one chapter that is rarely, if ever, taught in the synagogues today. For clearly obvious reasons.

2 Corinthians 3:12–16 (LEB):
“Therefore, because we* have such a hope, we use much boldness, and not as Moses used to place a veil over his face, in order that the sons of Israel would not stare at the end of what was transitory. But their minds were hardened. For until this very day, the same veil remains upon the reading of the old covenant, not being uncovered, because it is done away with in Christ. But until today, whenever Moses is read aloud, a VEIL LIES UPON THEIR HEART, but whenever one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed.” -
King David appeared to be a saviour to the Jewish community after killing the enemies of the Jews. He was young, charismatic, brave. He was a great warrior and had money and a beautiful wife. He held an important position of power. THEN, here comes this guy who gives money, bread, and fish to the poort. All possessions are gone. He is broke. He does not fight. He wears rags and cheap robes. He does not hold any important position of power in man’s view. They were looking for the Messiah to be one that saved them ALL. To be BETTER than King David in every way. He did save us all, but they did not see it that way. How many times were the pharisees impressed with His wisdom but still wanted to kill Him because they knew he made them look bad. They hated Him and killed Him because he did not live up to the standard of their expectations.
-
Same reason atheists are in denial
-
They will believe during the Great tribulation.
-
-
Because they were carnal,,,expected Him to do things for physical benefit….when He(Jesus) said my kingdom is spiritual, they were offended.
-
Don’t forget that 1 of the 333 prophecies about the Messiah was that he would be rejected by the Jews. So if they had accepted him he could not have been the Messiah.
-
The Messianic Jews do believe Christ came, died, and rose again.
-
Because they wanted a ruler and not martyr,
-
Messianic Jews like Rabbi Daniel Lapin, and Rabbi Johnathan Bernis, minister of “The Jewish Voice,” recognize Jesus as Lord and Savior.
-
They take the prophecy literally. And that is a messiah that is a king all glorious, all mighty, all sovereign.
-
Scripture shows …their hearts were hardened an where Moses is read the veil remains….
-
THEY WAIT IN A MESSIANIC RULER WHO HAVE LITERAL POWER
-
We have been deceived by man fostered by the father of lies to believe those in Jerusalem who call themselves jews are the children of Israel..

According to many biblical verses and text, the people who are occupying the land of israel are not the descendants of Jacob, therefore it’s impossible for them to fulfil the prophecies of Israel in the land. (1) Biblical Israel is made up of the twelve tribes from the sons of Jacob.
Modern Israel makes the claim to be Jews only.
(2) there is no scripture to support that the Jews will replace of represent the twelve tribes.
(3 Christ said Jerusalem will be occupied by gintiles until the end of the age.
Christ gave some prophecies to be fulfilled before the end of the age, 1948, they were not yet fulfilled. (A) global access to knowledge and travel (B) the gospel reaching all nations as a witness. (C) the great apostasy. Since they were not fulfilled 1948, them it was not the time for the return of Israel to the land.
(4)The bible tells he that Israel repented of their rebellion again God since in the land of captivity so when they are back in their own land they will not defile or pollute the land with any sort of abominations or wars and the land will be at peace and they will never be uprooted.
If the nation in the land is the return of Israel ,Why is the land filled with paganism, homosexuality and wars. Which is an abomination.
The wide spread belief of third temple construction for antichrist to enter is also non-biblical, since the bible says whem they are back in the land they will not be uprooted. -
because he did not deliver them from rome… for their heart was to be delivered (understandable) from something temporal before anything eternal…another question to ask is why will some not even allow the reading of Isaiah 53:5….
-
They expected Him as the Seed of David to fight and deliver them from the hands of the friegners and to establish the Davidic kingdom, just as John the Baptist deed. But unfortunately He didn’t, raither He was preaching love and peace, by even saying ” love your enemies.” So they disbelief Him. Remember, even His disciples ask Him ” will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel.
-
Israel rejects Yeshua because they misinterpreted the Scriptures about Him and believed that Yeshua would become an Earthly King and restore the vibrancy and strength of Israel as a Nation not understanding the Scriptures that affirm Messiah’s first-Advent as a suffering Lamb for the sins of mankind and Messiah’s responsibility to defeat the works of the Devil at the Crucifixion (John 1:29; 1 John 3:8b; Genesis 3:15).
It’s not until Messiah’s Second-Advent that He will restore the Nation of Israel and rule and reign over the Nations of the Earth for 1000-years with His headquarters in Jerusalem, Israel.
Because the Jews, the children of Jacob, have been a stubborn and stiff-necked people (Exodus 32:9; Deuteronomy 9:13) only a remnant of the children of Israel will be saved; this is prophesied because the children of Israel rejected Messiah Yeshua and demanded that His blood be on them and their children (Matthew 27:25); as a result, an overwhelming number of Israel’s offspring will die in sin and die in Hell (John 8:24; John 14:6).
-
Jews are guilty of the exact same behavior as EVERY false religion. They all believe PEOPLE (rabbis) and they DON’T do their own research.
-
Rom 11. Partially blinded
-
one reason would be because now as in Jesus time they expect that messiah to rule the world from Jerusalem and make them the kingpins-eg the disciples arguing over who would sit on left and right of Jesus , also when Jesus bumped into two disciples after his resurrection and they wanted to know if he was to restore Israel now!
-
They did not understand him John 5:39 ‘. Mathew 22:29
-
Even with Daniel 9, I have no idea. An angel told Daniel the exact year when Christ would come the first time.
