In light of 2 Peter 1:20, and Romans 3:4 in context, how then can we say we can only understand scripture by man’s personal interpretation of it?
A test of the truthfulness of our answer:
On what basis, standard, and authority is our answer true, and on what basis, standard, and authority are we interpreting and claiming anything?
Hermeneutics. But then again by what system? History of the Christianity can help us at some levels of depth. But then two people mightcome of the same history and the same Bible verses and still have two separate interpretations. So for that I believe Christ instituted in the Gospels and it echoes through the rest of the New Testament a three legged stool. Sacred Tradition, Sacred Scripture and a Magisterium. If someone wants to deny the deity of Christ I can point them to the Scriptures. But if someone wants to argue then with my interpretation of those scriptures then I can point them to the other parts of that stool.
