Read Genesis 19-20. Then focus on verse 17 to the following verses. Thanks.

  5. Larry Koester says:

He saw in faith the one who would bless all nations for this is God eterernal older than Abraham. The king of Salem was merely a prophecy of type. Of which there were many in the old testament.

  6. Ian Hartley says:

Abraham had many times with Jehovah personally. So did Job, Jacob, Moses…..If God is outside our time He can appear when he wants. Jehovah is Jesus but not Glorified with his Heavenly Power. Think of where Moses asked to see Jehovah’s Glory and Jesus hid Moses in the cleft of the rock because no man can see God’s face and live in this sinful earthly body. Isn’t it good that after death we receive a Glorified Body not made of corrupt clay?

    Genesis 14:18, specifically.

  8. Michael Wesolek Sr. says:

Abraham was looking for a city coming down not going up. That city was the new Jerusalem whose builder and maker was God. Jesus is KING of that city.
    Prophetically speaking

    JESUS created Abraham.

  10. Rick Holtsclaw says:

I also believe that Abraham understood Messiah through the testing with Isaac on Mt. Moriah which is the same mount (Golgotha) that Jesus was crucified on. Abraham knew that God Himself would provide Himself as the Lamb who would die for the sins of the World (John 1:29).

“And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.” Genesis 22:8 (KJV)

The old testament is the Prophecy of Jesus Christ, and the new testament is the fulfillment ?

Mechizidek was like Jesus but they’re not the same. They had attributes in common which is why Jesus is compared to him.

It’s a prophetic fulfillment utterance. It means that Abraham looked forward to Christ’s coming?

  18. John Carson says:

    Read Genesis 22:12-18….

“He said, “Do not stretch out your hand against the lad, and do nothing to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.” Then Abraham raised his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him a ram caught in the thicket by his horns; and Abraham went and took the ram and offered him up for a burnt offering in the place of his son. Abraham called the name of that place The LORD Will Provide, as it is said to this day, “In the mount of the LORD it will be provided.” Then the angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time from heaven, and said, “By Myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only son, indeed I will greatly bless you, and I will greatly multiply your seed as the stars of the heavens and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your seed shall possess the gate of their enemies. In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.””
