I’ve seen a lot of evidence that the Angel of the Lord found in the Old Testament is Jesus. Something I’ve been seeing more of recently is the idea that the Archangel Michael is Jesus, which I reject.
I know Jehovah’s Witnesses hold this belief, but I’d appreciate your refutations. Frankly, I find the idea to instill confusion.

I’m shooting from the hip here. But Michael is an Angel, an important one given what we see in the Scripture. He is a chief angel. However, when he shows up, he is mentioned by name. It distinguishes him. The problem with associating him with The Angel of Lord is that we never see the name Michael used in conjunction with that being. He is altogether separate. There really is no tie in that I can think of. Why not, Gabriel? He is mentioned as well in both Testaments. I think it’s just a bit of lousy reading comprehension to suggest that Michael and The Angel of the Lord are the same. There’s no evidence. There is a clear hierarchy that we aren’t very privy to when it comes to angelic beings, but that mystery doesn’t make it OK to associate a being who is clearly God with an angel that seems to have a bit of authority in the heavenly realm. At the end of the day, Michael is a servant of God even if he is an archangel.
I, too, think that Jesus fits the bill for The Angel of the Lord. I think it was him Abraham talked to when discussing Sodom, Gomorrah, and Lot. I think Jesus alludes to that in John 8.

Michael is referred to as the prince of Israel or its protector. Never God. The angel of the Lord is referred to multiple places as God or bearing the name of God. There is a good argument it is Christ but if not I would say it has to be the Holy Spirit for I’m convinced it is God. Malachi speaks of messengers. The word messenger is where we get our word Angel. Jesus and John the baptist were messengers of the way. Its believed even the 7 angels of the church were human messengers.

In Joshua 5:15 what does the commander of the Lord’s army say? Take off your shoes where you are standing is Holy. [this is Jesus]
Now where in the Bible does an regular angel (to include Michael) ever consider where they are to be Holy because of them? No where, no angle would even think they are Holy like God.

In Thessalonians its mentioned an archangel will herald the 2nd coming of Christ. The Knight doesn’t herald the coming of a Squire, nor does the King herald the coming of a servant. Archangels are below Christ.

We can see how the New Testament is built on the Old Testament scriptures in that
The first person is consistently called YHVH while the second person is given the names of YHVH, the Angel of YHVH and the Servant of YHVH. Consistently and without fail, the second person is sent by the first person. But they are one.Michael is a created Angel and not the same a as the Angel of the LORD

Jesus is the second person in the Trinity, he is God in The Flesh , he is not and has never been an Angel.

The Archangle Michael is not Jesus. Jesus is Jesus and He was in the Old Testament the Angle of the Lord, they are separate
