# **Theological question concerning “tongues.”** *“If I wasn’t baptized by the Holy Spirit because I didn’t speak in tongues as an evidence does it mean I am not saved?”*
# **Christian response…**
# Modern-day speaking in “tongues” has NOTHING to do with the Gift of the Spirit given to the early Church to proselytize the known World in the Gospel. The “tongues” given to the early Church was actually the ability to speak and/or understand intelligible languages/dialects that one had not previously studied.
# Pentecostalism and other charismatic denominations teach a pagan heresy known as speaking in an ecstatic utterance which finds its origin in the pagan temple at Delphi near Corinth in the 1st-Century. This pagan ritual, practiced by an intoxicated pagan priestess in the Delphi Temple, carried-over into the Church at Corinth and generated much confusion and dissension.
# If you have sincerely trusted in Jesus Christ as your Lord and received the Holy Spirit by grace through faith in Him as your God (Ephesians 1:13), you are saved and secure in the Holy Spirit, forever (John 10:28-30). Do not be led astray by the foolishness and false teaching of men who insist that you must speak in a tongue/ecstatic utterance in order to verify, authenticate, your faith and salvation…these are heretics, they are unlearned, they are legalistic false teachers…they practice demonism…don’t just walk away…RUN AWAY!!!
