Basically, a logical fallacy occurs when a person twists or inserts into an existing argument to deflect from the lack of evidence for their own position. I highly recommend “A Pocket Guide to Logic and Faith” by Dr. Jason Lisle. You can get it on the Answers in Genesis website. It’s a small little book, 96 pages, but it breaks down many of the logical fallacies by explaining how they work. I think they are about 6 bucks. Very useful and a wonderful resource. God bless!

Here’s one simple example:
Bob is a man.
Bob likes green pants.
All men like green pants. -
It is common in political world. It is how politician use this rhetoric to convince the citizens to give in to their demand even if it may not have truth in it. For instance Al Gore claim Ice cap is melting and New York and many cities around the world will be 10 feet in water. 20 years later this didn’t happen and he has beach front property already invested.

Logic is concerned with correct inferences from a a set of statements. A fallacy is when we claim an inference from a set of statements that do not follow for whatever reason.
E.g. Equivocation fallacy:
1.All bishops move diagonal.
2. The pope is a bishop.
Therefore, the pope moves diagonal.The inference is invalid (and thus, a fallacy) because bishop is being used in 2 different ways.

It sounds like how my toddler presents his case about why he should eat cupcakes for breakfast. His case will be sound but the origin of the argument is rooted from the fallacy that cupcakes are for breakfast.

It violates the three laws of logic in some way
1.) the law of non contradiction. Two things cannot be the same in the same way at the same time. You cannot have a square circle.
2.) the law of excluded middle.
A square is either a square or it is not there is not middle option.
3.) the law of identity.
A this is the thing and not something else. A square is a square by definition.Logical fallacies violate these in various ways but there are many more. Examples are the straw man, red herring, appeal to force, appeal to pity, bandwagon, and on and on. Check out logic the essentials by Patrick Hurley.

Anything that doesn’t use proper logic/methods of arriving at conclusions…and there are lots of them.

A fallacy is the use of poor, or invalid, reasoning for the construction of an argument. This is different than just an argument that is simply factually incorrect, it is about an argument that makes an error in logic or makes assumptions that should not have been made (either intentional or unintentional).
I’ll name a few examples:
Strawman
To deliberately misrepresent your opponent’s position so it is easier to attack.
Ad Hominem
To attack your opponent’s character rather than making an argument.
Red Herring
To derail the subject with an argument that is irrelevant.
Slippery Slope
If A happens then B will eventually happen so therefore A can’t happen.
Circular reasoning
A is right because B is right and B is right because A is right.

Doesn’t follow the laws of logic or logically follows from the premises given to in a syllogism.
Sometimes a logical fallacy is simply the absence of agreement on assumptions or beginning points (or without the appropriate qualifications or understanding of mitigating factors or false connective arguments or time or circumstantial evidence not actually substantive etc etc etc).
Atheists really love to claim logical fallacies without understanding their own inflexible assumptions which effect their own conclusions and viewpoint on the logical outcome of some arguments.
So an atheist will throw the charge of logical fallacies on the bases of assumptions they hold to be truth (G-d does not exist, therefore anything in which posits that or argument that contain that assumption must be wrong, consequently any conclusion is false and therefore illogical and fundamentally flawed). So instead of debating an issue you end up in a mouse trap about logic.

A logical fallacy is a failure in reasoning that renders an argument invalid. In simple English, it basically means your thinking is wrong.
For example, look at this argument: Cats have four legs, my dog has four legs, therefore my dog is a cat. The problem in this argument is called a fallacy.

Example. A man cut one of the legs of a frog and frightened the frog but the frog still jump and he said the frog can still hear but after cutting all the four legs he said the frog cannot jump coz it cannot heard anymore.
This is logical fellacy.

It is an understanding or interpretation that is not correct…

It means the premises logically flow towards a seemingly sound & logical conclusion. But there may be apparent facts not taken into consideration. So, not necessary that sound conclusion is the only conclusion.
