Prove to me you exist.

Ask them what scholarly research and evidence he has for that opinion.
Show him the evidence that Jesus did exist.

Don’t waste your time unless your just there for the fun of it. Are there any other famous historical figures that the person doesn’t think even existed at all? No.

I would say Julius Ceasar didnt exist….the evidence for Christ is far more than Ceasar anyday of the week. See Josephus.

Tell them that if JESUS did not exist we would not exist since it is by Him , in Him through Him and for Him that we came into existence.

I would agree. Paul was a real Conman who used myths to create his own religion. No different than John Smith or Muhammed.

First, ask if he believe in proven historical facts. Then, ask if he will allow you to show historical records of Jesus existence. However, be careful your not casting your pearls before swine. Let the Lord guide you in what to say

I would ask them how they came to that conclusion first. It’s an ignorant statement. No serious secular scholar doubts Jesus’ existence. He’s the most verifiable person of antiquity.

I would point them to the historical accounts of the first century historians such as Tacitus, Josefus, Plinio, and couple more.

If Jesus doesn’t exist the neither do Shakespeare and Homer, because there is more evidence for Jesus then any other ancient or middle ages historical figure.

Most scholars do not deny the existence of Jesus Christ. Jesus is mentioned in Torah and the Quran.

I would chuckle, then if they are honestly seeking, explain the historical truth that Jesus exists.

There are more valid Historical records of Jesus Christ, than Julius Caesar.

I would honestly laugh in their face….even atheistic scholars in Academia to a man accept the existence of Jesus Christ….if you deny Christ ever existed you will have to deny Caesar or Augustus or Alexander or any other major figure of antiquity ever existed…..

I would ask them how they came to that conclusion. And then depending on how they answered, I would ask them additional questions.

I’ve come across Jews who will say this. Scholars and historians believe Jesus did exist. But you can’t convince people who are so biased they don’t want to believe.

Our entire timeline is constructed from someone who didn’t exist? The very reason it’s 2020 is bc this so called non existent person died 2020 yrs ago. The whole world currently acknowledges his existence by even following this timeline.

Just tell him that Socrates never existed . if he argues , ask him the evidence to proof that Socrates existed.

I would walk away because that particular person would be trying to have an intellectual discussion that will lead nowhere. Paul said he determined to preach Christ and Him crucified. That’s the only method that God uses to bring people to Himself.

To play to their seemingly intellectual, and highly secular, discussion, one only needs to point to historical documents, as well as the Koran that indicate a person named Jesus existed. Of course, asking whether Jesus existed is not the actual question one should ask. I recently (several months ago) was in a discussion with a Muslim (one of my former students) about whether Jesus was God or not. Even with the overwhelming amount of biblical evidence thrust at him (since the Word is a two-edged sword), he refused to believe. I had to block him on Facebook because he had become unhinged. I would recommend walking away from such arguments. It is similar to the old philosopher’s paradox, i.e.,: If God is omnipotent, can God create a rock He Himself cannot lift?

If someone claims Jesus never existed, then they are just ignorant of history.

I’d refer them to a scholar like Bart Ehrman, who despite not believing that Jesus was divine or did anything miraculous, will call you an idiot (or at least uninformed) if you think he never existed.

How is it that the historical records of the apostles (eyewitnesses) and the first generation Christian believers who were martyred, were all willing to be martyred for someone who never existed?

I would take him to Jewish history and say even Richard Dawkins doesn’t make that argument any more.

Even the best & accreted atheistic scholars & historians who will openly deny the existence or need of God (their opinion) will agree that Jesus is real, that through studying the 4 gospel accounts of Jesus, testing the accuracy & dating of the manuscripts, taking into psychological evaluation and evidence, learning of the sources about Jesus and Christianity outside of the bible (and so so much more)
Will agree that Jesus was real as far as any other historical figure is, that the gospels do account the movements around Israel that Jesus took and that he was crucified on the cross
When the question of did Jesus really die on the cross, could he have faked it etc
The answer is no
When you study the medical examination of Jesus’ torture & crucifixion
You will learn that it was impossible that he could’ve physically survived it (no man can), even the Romans who had no need to believe in Jesus would’ve ensured as their job that he died as if they let a criminal condemned to death via crucifixion to be set free; they would be killed themselvesEven the Pharisees confirmed that Jesus had died as their false claim for the disappearance of Jesus’ body was that the disciples stole the body
Which was unlikely as Jesus is accurately accounted as appearing to at least 500 eyewitnesses including the disciples, first to Peter, then later to James (brother of Jesus who was skeptical about Jesus’ claims/accuracy in being the messiah) and lastly to Paul
Also they disciples faced heavy persecution for believing in Jesus as the messiah, a belief they never recanted
Especially as Christianity really upscaled and began in Jerusalem; the very place Jesus was killed
If someone asked were was the empty tomb, the disciples could easily show them
Logically in those times when false claims of the messiah would result in death

I recommend that you read Lee Strobel’s The Case For Christ (an investigation that L.S. did when he was an atheist, which activity is what logically made him become a Christian)

Pray that the eyes of their understanding would be opened. Acknowledging a historical figure is not the same as obeying, worshiping, and surrendering ones life.

To deny that jesus existed is like to deny history itself. I believe Jesus for one because he is historical. There are proofs of this.

Jesus told his deciples to walk away and shake the dust off their feet if they were met with people who were unaccepting to the word. There is a huge difference between a non believer who can be reasoned with and someone who is simply hateful towards God. To deny the basic historical knowledge of Jesus puts them in the second category in my opinion. I’d say it’s dust shaking time.

There is to much documentation even outside of the Bible that shows the existence of Christ. Most Jews will admit he existed they just say he may have been a prophet but that he was not the messiah. So the argument regarding history could be made about anyone of history. Now if the argument was about Christ being the savior of all man kind that is a different argument all together.

Their is over 5000 historical evidence FAR MORE THAN ANY ONE ELSE to Jesus Christ yet we want to believe He didn’t exist we r not looking at TRUE HISTORY

He is the MOST researched person of the world. Evidence is there. All they have to do is be willing to look.
Most people who deny Him don’t want to discover He existed out of fear. -
