May be He could see in Heaven His Father turning away from Him.

This is when the Father left him.

Because for the first time in his life, he was separated from God the father, as he took on the sin of the world.

GOD left Him because He is bearing all the sins of men that was about to be forgiven because of His sacrificial life offering

And that’s how seriously God takes sin, when his own Son became a curse he couldn’t even look at him because of the ugliness of sin, GLORY BE TO THE LORD for taking my sin on the cross and impute his RIGHTEOUSNESS upon me, a wretched sinner!!!!

Psalm 22 tells us he did not forsake him, read it all. Jesus was quoting it to those in earshot that he was the subject of Psalm 22.

THATS HOW VALUABLE IS THE SALVATION. GOD THE FATHER WAS NOT ABLE TO WITHSTAND WATCHING THE AGONY RECEIVED BY HIS BEGOTTEN SON ON THE CROSS, HE LEFT, IN OTHER SIDE TO FULLY COMPLETE THE PLAN OF SALVATION.

Because God is of purer eyes and He cannot behold iniquity.
That simply confirms what Jesus came to achieve on the Cross. -
As James and the OP said he was quoting the victory Psalm 22 or Psalm 21 Orthodox

Read Psalms 22:1 -
Jesus, in His humanity and in His deity, for the first time, experienced the sin of mankind poured out upon Him in His sinlessness and it is sin that creates a chasm between man and God; therefore, for the first time in Eternity, God the Son felt disconnected from the Father…even the creation vomited the dead at the sight of Jesus’ suffering and all of human history was changed at that moment. God the Son became sin for us so that we could become the righteousness of God in Him…to everyone who believes that Jesus is God who died to pay their sin-debt.

Jesus clearly wasn’t calling upon the Father in this verse.
Which is the reason why ,both Mark and Mathew say in each account, that those listening said that Jesus was calling on Elijah to come and rescue him.
Elijah was prophesied to show up before the Messiah……Malachi 4:5
Malachi 3:1, Isaiah 40:3
Mathew 11:13-14
Matthew 17:10-13
Mark 9:11-13
Luke 1:17
Luke 7:26-28 -
It is simple. The Father up to this point had shielded Jesus from evil. That protection was removed. In that sense he was forsaken by God(the Father). He indeed was crying out to God.
Also Psalm 22 was literally fulfilled at his Crucifixion. What He said was the first sentence of that psalm. -

This was the first time God the Father and God the Son where separated. Jesus was so close to the Father,when Jesus was on that cross taking on himself all the sins of the world God the Father could not look at Him as the Father is so Holy. That’s when Jesus cried out why have you forsaken me.

Jesus had an earthly mother. He was born of a virgin. Abraham had an earthly mother and father. Immanuel has God for a father. And through Jesus we are reconciled to God, cause He was the only sacrifice worthy enough for reconciliation. I like what John Eksted expressed.
