We should not spend too much time in examining, analyzing, and researching a doctrine because doctrines are like reeds that will not support you when encountering real life difficulties. Only God can carry you through these, not doctrine.

Is that a conviction of yours?

The question then is what is doctrine?
-
Wrong! If you are wrong about God, you are wrong enough to go to hell for all eternity.
-
Then what you are saying is we should just mark them out of the Bible and not use them, my Bible says “all scripture is good for teaching” you must have a different Bible from the rest of us
-
Unfortunately what you just said is a doctrine about God, just that it is a doctrine not foundef on Scriptures.
-
When Paul told Timothy keep these teachings. In Greek that is Doctrine.
-
“doctrines” are Bible.. what are u smokin?
-
There is one doctrine. This is the message of salvation since the beginning of creation. The mystery of the cross unfolding.
-
There is no other doctrine from God other than salvation.
-
“Only God can carry you through” – sounds like a doctrine to me.

If you think of God as a pilot, life as a plane, then doctrine would be the seatbelt that holds you in your seat during turbulence. God is in control, life gets rough, God flies us through, correct doctrine keeps us in place. Wrong doctrine like using a seatbelt wrong can hurt you in life and possibly kill you even with God as pilot.

What exactly do you think doctrine is?
-
Nonsense. Your ideas of God are your doctrine. If your doctrine doesn’t line up with Scripture, then you have created a false god in your mind whom you serve.
-
Faith to receive the unseen like raising the dead, walking on water, speaking in tongues, casting out unclean spirits etc. definitely require meditation analysis etc. to be made manifest..
-
That’s not what Jesus thought about doctrine.
-
Paul did not intimate that thought either. Paul said to endure sound doctrine.

I think that we should test everything with the Word. Doctrine will not take you to heaven but your heart relationship with God.

I agree that seeing or hearing something beyond the visible natural realm is often given to some of us. That does not make us special, or “more spiritual” than others. But I say BEWARE of those who become “authorities” on these things, yet they don’t have a basic doctrinal foundation based on a study of Scripture. There are those who want to analyze Revelation who won’t even read Romans. Or those who eat bananas foster but no meat and potatoes.
