This is also applicable to us and everyone else, not just atheists. When we sin, we do so as if God doesn’t exist

This verse is not about people who don’t believe in God. The fool is the one, whether he/she believes in God or not, but lives as if he does not. That certainly describes many Christians too.

The context of fool actually means: “No religious truth”… there’s more to it, I just forgot where I heard or watched it.
