A better question is what is; body mind and spirit.
Body = a meat suit.
Mind = consciousness, center of thought.
Spirit = the immortal part of our being. -
The soul is equivalent to your emotions or “heart.” It is also your state of mind. Your spirit is the eternal part, unseen, that will return to the presence of Christ if you believe. Your body is the perishable shell we inhabit on earth pre- second coming.

There is a clear Biblical explanation about these three distinctive entities,
Body- is the Outer part in which the Human Spirit (a human himself) dwell or live in it.
Spirit-is what called a human being. A human being is a spirit as God as any angelic being but he is a spirit with a house.
Soul- is what formed when the body and spirit comes together just to ensure the personality. So all these mark the thing called a human. A human is a spiri with the soul dwelling in a house and that house we name it Body. A human can be in his house(body) or out of it Refer to 2CORINTHIANS 12:2 -
One has to be careful to view this in a Christian nanner , as we are in a gnostic culture. Body is our physical bodies, and that body is important. After we die, that physical body will bve resurrected. True, it will be glorified, but yest still physical. Jesus ate with His disciples after He was resurrected. Soul and spirit can be seen as the same thing, although I am a triconomist, so I divide them. The Soul is you – your self-awareness, personality, individual essence, you temperment. One’s Spirit is either alive in Christ or dead in trespasses and sins, connected to the ultimate reality which is God, or afloat in meaninglessness and vanity.

A soul is “nefesh” in Hebrew. Here is the meaning of nefesh:

Your body of course is your physical being, you are a living soul as long as you’re breathing and your breath is your spirit, but it does seem the spirit carries a person’s consciousness.

The soul is the seat of your emotions. It is also where you think and reason. Your spirit is that part of you that allows you to relate to God. The spirit is dead until made alive by coming to Christ for salvation.

The spirit is of the eternal plane. The soul is the consciousness of spirit manifest. And the soul manifests and interacts with the flesh, including the fleshly mind and its chemicals. The soul is ultimately the melding of body and spirit.

The soul is a person’s essential self, the embodiment of his values. A soul is measured in moral rather than physical or intellectual terms. It transcends the material world.
Most Christians regard the soul as the immortal essence of a human – the seat or locus of human will, understanding, morality and/or personality. When a person’s physical body dies, it is the soul that proceeds to the afterlife in Heaven or Hell. By analogy the Holy Spirit is the Soul of the Christian Church.
Atheistic scientists generally ignore or dismiss the soul as unsuitable for study. To be precise, the methodological naturalism of modern science is unable to handle the concept of the soul. Anything which is not material is deliberately excluded from consideration, and as the soul is not a material thing scientists accordingly refuse to study it. This has implications for the study of human psychology, despite the fact that the word “psychology” is Latin for “study of the soul.” There is also the question of when the soul enters the body, as this is important for the debate on abortion from a theological position.
It should be noted that there was once a study made at the turn of the 20th century by Duncan MacDougall of the loss of weight at the time of death. The scientist doing the measurements concluded that this loss of weight (approximately three quarters of an ounce) was due to the soul leaving the body. He also did a similar experiment with dogs, but found no change in weight, which would match the Chistian concept that of God’s creations on the earth, humans alone have souls. No known attempts to follow up his work have ever been made.
A body encompasses all the members of a separate entity. Generally an entity of mass or people. A body of water is separate from the other lakes and rivers. A student body is a group of people; but most often a body refers to a group of organs. The Human Body is a primary example, but animals and plants also have “bodies”.
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Holy Trinity, both distinct and coequal with God the Father and the Son (Jesus). Prayer directly to the Holy Spirit is an under-utilized way to obtain help, guidance, and motivation.
The Holy Spirit is the inspiring, driving force that enables one to achieve by overcoming difficulties, addiction, chaos, negativity, and even the Devil.
The Holy Spirit embodies the mutual eternal love of the Father and the Son. The Greek term for the Holy Spirit is “Paraclete”, which means advocate or intercessor, thereby connoting a driving force for good. The Holy Spirit is God’s present activity in our midst. When we sense God’s leading, God’s challenge, or God’s support or comfort, we say that it’s the Holy Spirit at work.
The apostles credit the Holy Spirit with giving them the courage to spread the good news of Jesus Christ in a very hostile world. Scriptural references to the Holy Spirit are in both the Old and New Testaments, and include Proverbs 8:22-31, John 16:12-15, and Romans 5:1-5.

It’s hard to tell where the physical body ends and spiritual part of our being begins. Because our thoughts manifest in our brain as physical electrical impulses. Our spiritual self seems to be able to see, sense, and influence neural impulses, but how? The spiritual and physical are affected by each other, but where do they end or begin? I think, in that sense, it’s hard to draw the lines between body, mind, soul, or spirit.
Also, the account of the rich man in hell in Luke 15. His soul and Lazarus’ soul are described as having physical features (eyes, fingers, tongue). They could also recognize each other. So I believe a person’s soul bears close resemblance to their body.

Humans are created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26-27). God is triune – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – humans are tripartite – body, soul, and spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you COMPLETELY; and may your whole SPIRIT, SOUL, and BODY be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.)
When our physical bodies – like that of Jesus’ body – die, our spirit and soul live on for eternity – as did Jesus’.
That’s how Jesus could say, “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down MY LIFE that I may take it again. 18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.” (John 10:17-18 – cross reference with Leviticus 17:11 For THE LIFE OF THE FLESH [aka body] IS IN THE BLOOD, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your SOULS; for it is the BLOOD [which is in the body] that makes atonement for THE SOUL.’)
That’s also how Jesus could say to the Jews after He had cleansed the temple of the money changers who asked Him, “What sign do You show to us, since You do these things?” 19 “ Jesus answered and said to them, “DESTROY THIS TEMPLE, AND IN THREE DAYS I WILL RAISE IT UP.” 20 Then the Jews said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?” 21 But HE WAS SPEAKING OF THE TEMPLE OF HIS BODY. 22 Therefore, when He had risen from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this to them; and they believed the Scripture and the word which Jesus had said.
For those who have asked, “Where does Jesus say He would raise His own body?” John 2:18-22 above!
Jesus also said to His disciples, after His resurrection, “Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I MYSELF. Handle Me and see, for A SPIRIT DOES NOT HAVE FLESH AND BONES [He did not say “flesh and blood,” as in 1 Corinthians 15:50] AS YOU SEE I HAVE.” (Luke 24:39)
And for those who have asked, “How could God die and raise (especially Himself) from the dead?”
The ongoing, into eternity, life of Jesus soul and spirit raised His then immortal, glorified flesh and bones temple of His own body on the third day after He had allowed it to be put to death! Only His body died, but His spirit and soul never ceased to live. That’s how – as God – Jesus could die and still rise from the dead!

Soul = seed of God, the energy of life = male = logic and reason = light or darkness.
spirit of mankind, commonly known as the heart of mankind, their awareness, consciousness, decision making process, freedom of choice, freedom of expression, free will = female = emotional and nurturing = good fruit or evil fruit.
Together they are one flesh and their seed is Soul, spirit of mankind, clothed in a form of being of the elements of the earth, though first immortal in the presence of God and mortal when separated from God in darkness.
The original sin of mankind was their Spiritual disconnection from God (nakedness) and their mortality (shame) death itself, both physical and Spirituality dead.
Christ is the light of life itself, Himself, that provides opportunity to be reconciled to God receiving the Robe of righteousness to cover mankind’s nakedness receiving the promise of Christ the Holy Spirit that has victory over mankind’s mortality in death.
God is not the God of the dead (Physical) but of the living (Spiritual).
Christ said let the dead (Physical) bury their dead (Spiritual death).
Christ said my kingdom is not of this world (Physical) but of the Kingdom to come (Spiritual).

In the King James Bible, a soul is a spirit united with a physical body — a living soul.
A spirit without a physical body is just a spirit.
A physical body without a spirit is just a dead body.

Body is the physical part of a person that can be seen. Soul is the personality, emotions, thoughts, and will of a person. Spirit is that special part of each person that longs for union with God and for the perfect eternity. It is the spirit that the Holy Spirit mostly inhabits. It is the spirit that can best be filled with the fruits of the spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22). It is the spirit that can feel thh Holy Spirit inhabiting one always. It is the spirit that can feel love, joy, and peace always. It is the spirit that has spiritual discernment. It is the spirit that is more in tune with God and spiritual realities. It is the soul that is more distracted by earth and earthly things. We need to keep our souls more conscious of our spirits and the Holy Spirit and less distracted and focused on worldly things. But even when my soul is upset,stressed, crabby,… my spirit is always at peace and joy and in communion with the Holy Spirit.
