We Remember Dorcas Brinson
DORCAS BRINSON
World Missions Director Dr. David M. Griffis and Assistant Director Dr. M. Thomas Propes extend their deepest heartfelt sympathy to the Brinson Family in the passing June 9, 2021, of their wife, mother, and grandmother, Dorcas Brinson. The Brinsons’ son, Terrell, is currently serving as a World Missions Representative, making an impact on missions around the world.
Dorcas was born in Gadsden, Alabama, on July 7, 1933. She was married to Russell Brinson, former World Missions Board member and Missions Representative who served from 1976 until 2011, and she faithfully served alongside her husband in telling others the message of salvation and raising support to accomplish that task on the missions field. The couple served as pastors in Florida, Ohio, Oregon, and Alabama, were State Youth and Christian Education directors in West Virginia, and overseers of Alaska, Washington State, and Pennsylvania. Dorcas previously served on the Florida State Camp Meeting Music Committee.
An elegant, vibrant individual, Dorcas was an accomplished musician who played several instruments, among which were the xylophone and piano. She also taught school for many years. Her absence will be greatly felt by those who knew and loved her.
Surviving are two children: Russell Terrell Brinson (Debbie) and Tonna Brinson Prater (Dale); four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
