Any young preacher today feeling the call to be an evangelist in the Church of God will have many tools to work with that evangelists never had before. To begin with he or she must think in terms of how to reach as many people as possible. A second underlying thought should be; how can I add value to the church that I am going too? Even if you are pastoring a church but feel you need to do some evangelising on,“ the side “ those two thoughts should be uppermost in mind.
Having worked on the advance team for both the Oral Roberts and Billy Graham team I know that there is a lot of preparation involved if you are going to get the attention and the interest of the community. In fact there is so much work that the evangelist should try to organize a team, even if it is to be all volunteer. Just think of the good training the workers will have as you work together to build the Lord’s kingdom.

It’s great if evangelists want to do a traditional crusade, though they don’t use that word in some parts of the world for historical reasons.
There is also street preaching which is lower prep and probably more like what the apostles did at times.
But there are many other avenues. I know someone who does a lot of one on one evangelism online. I’ve had conversations with seekers and evangelized online after making YouTube videos.
Evangelists can also meet with individuals, try to get seeker Bible study groups together and things like that. Philip is called an evangelist and he preached to groups and did individual soul winning.

One of the things that any young preacher should do is have a good photograph of himself. In the right setting with the right background a photograph is a powerful tool and conveys a lot information at a single glance. A professional photographer often takes many pictures and will discard as many as 8 out of 10. It has to do with the presentation of oneself!

Another thing that I think has value is to have doorknob hangers printed up and get the upper teens to help put them on doorknobs in nearby neighborhoods. This raises awareness of the church and gives a practical way to help promote the revival. Several thousand can be printed up and then the local place and times can be added as needed. The Evangelist can have his email added for a possible long term contact.
