For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.

The cross of Christ has the potential to have an effect.

Legend has it that splinters of the cross of Christ are scattered around the globe ensconced in sacred shrines and reliquaries. That I don’t know.

On the other hand there are those, credentialed with prestigious degrees and pedigrees who assure us the whole thing is a crock – nonsense, superstition for the weak-minded and gullible.

The plain simple truth is, the cross of Christ existed. This is clearly documented. It existed at a particular time and place and Jesus died on it…

For you and me.

In our place.

To atone for our sins.

You can try to explain it away, make it mean something else, or you can believe the simple truth, embrace it, and benefit for eternity from its effect.

The ONE THING for today: The cross of Jesus Christ has a powerful and eternal effect to those who will believe the simple truth.
