Good evening, and welcome to #ourCOG Daily Brief for April 1, 2026.
In the U.S. today, the Supreme Court appears skeptical of altering birthright citizenship, despite President Trump’s efforts to reinterpret the Constitution’s guarantee. This comes as the U.S. is one of about three dozen countries offering unrestricted citizenship at birth, and the President even attended oral arguments – a first for a sitting president. Meanwhile, a surge of U.S. troops into Iran raises questions about whether it will deter conflict or lead to escalation into another “forever war.” Washington is also abuzz with concerns over potential insider trading, with critics alleging that well-timed market plays suggest confidential information is being leaked, prompting new legislation. President Trump’s executive action to pay TSA agents during a congressional gridlock is also challenging Congress’s power of the purse. On the global stage, Saudi Arabia is now preparing for potential military responses to Iran, even as it hopes for diplomacy, having come under Iranian attack. There’s a significant push for child welfare reform in Haiti, aiming to transition children from orphanages to foster care in line with international guidance. And despite recent attacks from the U.S. and Israel, Iran’s machinery of intimidation, particularly the IRGC and Basij militia, continues to keep protesters at bay without observed defections.

Turning to prophecy news, the latest reports for April 1st, 2026, include a rather unusual warning to the Bank of England to prepare for aliens, citing imminent U.S. ‘disclosure.’ Just yesterday, on March 31st, President Trump stated that the assassination of senior Islamic regime leaders amounts to achieving regime change in Iran, suggesting a deal may be soon. On March 30th, Vice President Vance claimed the Trump administration is working to deport Minnesota congresswoman Ilhan Omar for alleged immigration fraud, while questions arise if Iran is now racing toward a bomb after the war. And from March 29th, Newsweek senior editor-at-large Josh Hammer delivered a fiery speech at CPAC 2026, criticizing elements within the conservative movement he believes are working against President Trump and American strength.
Finally, in Jewish history, looking back at April 2nd, we note the birth of Charlemagne in 742, who, despite pressure from the Catholic Church, treated his Jewish subjects well, allowing them to play a prominent part in his realm. Unfortunately, his successors couldn’t maintain these policies. April 2nd, 1118, marks the time of Baldwin I, self-styled King of Jerusalem and a leader of the bloody First Crusade. And sadly, on April 2nd, 1279, a number of London Jews were martyred following ritual charges, a type of report that tragically saw a significant increase during the Easter Season.
