Good evening, and welcome to #ourCOG Daily Brief for November 4, 2026.

Today’s headlines are dominated by U.S. politics, where Democrats achieved sweeping victories in both the House and Senate, a significant rebuke to President Donald Trump’s policies. Voters elected Democrats to tackle critical issues such as the rising cost of living, the Iran war, and corruption, though the party now faces the challenge of pivoting to governing after their success. Beyond Capitol Hill, the midterms also saw pivotal swings in governorships and statehouses across America, while some New England towns are embracing or grappling with the influx of fall foliage tourists. Internationally, a social-media-savvy septuagenarian is leading the race for Johannesburg mayor, highlighting shifting loyalties away from South Africa’s ruling African National Congress. Israel’s President Isaac Herzog is tasked with breaking a parliamentary deadlock after inconclusive elections, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues to challenge free speech for artists, who risk professional repercussions for their political expressions.

In our featured video segment, today’s offering is titled “Your Past Doesn’t Define You,” presented on Jentezen Franklin TV, reminding us to approach today with prayer.

Turning to Faith News, we hear that Lee University is set to host Celebration 2026 and Homecoming from November 5th to 7th. Hillsong Worship is preparing to release new live songs on October 23rd, while Great American Media has launched “Pure Flix Familia.” Additionally, a new initiative has been announced with the goal of benefiting Native American Ministries.

In our latest prophecy news, Rabbi Elie Mischel has issued a warning regarding Christians who claim to be the lost tribes of Israel, arguing that this “We are Ephraim” movement revives replacement theology. Elsewhere, the Archbishop of Vienna, Josef Grünwidl, has voiced support for the ordination of women, though he deems it currently unrealistic. We also hear that Russia’s answer to Starlink reportedly lost a second satellite after an extended period of inactivity. Shifting to Europe, a constitutional crisis unfolded in Poland, where globalist forces, purportedly aligned with the European Union, were involved in an alleged “coup” attempt as police seized a tribunal. Lastly, information has surfaced regarding Abdul El-Sayed, revealing his father’s association with an Islamic charity allegedly tied to the Muslim Brotherhood and involved in funneling money to Saddam Hussein.

And finally, in Jewish history, looking back at November 4th through the centuries, we find a couple of notable entries. In 1053, a document from the archives of the Cathedral of Leon records that Infanta D. Fronilda acquired a vineyard at Montaurio from a Jew named Joseph b. Joab Escapat for 50 dineros. Fast forward to 1310, and King Jaime II issued a royal decree granting Judah Bonseynor, who served as Notary General of Aragon, a complete exemption from all taxes that the Aljama of Barcelona was typically required to pay. The king further ordered that Bonseynor and his children should not be troubled over unpaid taxes and were free to move in and out of the “Juderia,” or Jewish quarter, as they pleased.
