I think evangelist and singers should be compensated well if the church can afford it. Our church is small so we don’t have a revival but about every three months. It is a small independent Pentecostal church.

who want to be around pastors who are hurting. I sought out a very well known independent pastor in Florence KY a few years ago just to get some advice from him, he was very short and aggravated with me and made me feel as if I was imposing on his time, it was a very short meeting. About a year later, I was speaking to another pastor that used to attend his church and told him how this man acted toward me. This pastor told me that if a pastor is doing “good” and doesn’t have any problems that the pastor in Florence will spend time with you, but if you give him the slightest hint that you have problems, he won’t waste his time an you.
There are many pastors who aren’t looking for nothing more than someone’s ear.

I heard of a struggling pastor who had an opportunity to have Ray Hughes in his home and he wanted desperately to talk to him. Bro Hughes suggested they go for a drive and that way they could have uninterrupted privacy. He drove and Hughes was the passenger. The pastor began pouring out his soul emptying all his feelings and he looked over to his passenger; he was sound asleep, hadn’t heard a word.
He had driven for a long time so on the return he drove back in blank silence knowing he hadn’t accomplished anything. You won’t get much help from fellow ministers, that I know for certain.

Sunday I went forward in the altar call and ask for the church to pray for me to have strength to stand against the accusations of those who are not speaking for God. Rather they are speaking from their own hearts and minds thinking they are speaking for God.

QUESTION ….DID YOU LIE when you joined the Church of God and promised TO BE SUBJECT TO THEM THAT ARE OVER YOU IN THE LORD?….ARE YOU KEEPING YOUR WORD? Or have you broken you promise, when you stood before GOD AND a body of believers SAID YOU WOULD…. why have you lied ……and not kept your word, and attempted to destroy that which you have vowed to support? So you feel they have wronged you….GET OVER IT AND BE FAITHFUL TO YOUR PROMISE …THAT YOU MADE ..how ever many years ago it was.

The COG in Indiana has had no significant growth in the past 45 years.

Wonder if the SO’s salary reflect that?

This is why the SO will not let local church membership rolls be purged! His salary is determined by it.
Maybe they should let the membership be purged and then the responsibility is on the SO to build up the state.
Our COG here in this city has a membership of over 250 and the average Sunday attendance is seven.

I don’t know of a Memphis COG that has a Sunday night service nor a midweek service.

The COG brand is a dying breed. That’s why you won’t see the COG name on any of their new churches.
